  • Patent number: 4397288
Abstract: An inexpensive light-weight diesel fuel warmer having high efficiency, being of small compass, and preventing fuel stagnation and contamination. The warmer is comprised of a cold-rolled steel fuel coil encircling a cast aluminum cylinder in spaced relation, both of which are encapsulated within a cast-aluminum capsule by means of which heat is effectively transferred from the coolant to the fuel.

  • Patent number: 4393851
Abstract: A temperature-controlling system for a fuel supply line characterized by a simple and inexpensive thermostatically controlled valve positioned within the flow, and sensitive to the temperature, of the fuel before it has been mixed with bypassed and heated fuel. The valve modulates the flow bypassed through a heat exchanger, which flow later joins the stream of fuel which has not been bypassed and heated.

  • Patent number: 4392496
Abstract: A dual channel neuromuscular stimulator. Pulses developed by a pulse generator are transmitted alternately on both channels to involuntarily contract muscles. The stimulator has variable on/off cycling capability to provide flexibility in meeting the stimulation needs of patients and has output current adjustments and other variable parameter settings to achieve optimum neuromuscular stimulation. To enhance patient comfort, the stimulation output of the stimulator can be slowly "ramped up" to its full stimulation power to allow the increase in stimulation to occur at various rates to accommodate the differing characteristics of different muscle groups. A jack is provided to permit the stimulation to be controlled by an external switch operated by a clinician to coordinate stimulation of various muscle groups with voluntary muscle contraction by the patient. The jack can also be connected to a heel operated switch to stimulate muscle groups to allow certain disabled persons to walk normally.

  • Patent number: 4386634
Abstract: A proportioning system for preparing hemodialysis or hemofiltration solutions. The apparatus of the system is a specially plumbed tank containing a flexible plastic container which holds solution concentrate. Introduction of pressurized water into the tank outside the bag discharges concentrate and water through separate paths into a mixing chamber at a rate determined by the size ratio of narrow orifices in the respective paths.

  • Patent number: 4384378
Abstract: A mobile body lift comprising an inverted U-shaped lift frame moved vertically relative to a supporting mobile frame by mechanical actuator mechanism and having a T-shaped support at its foot end and a U-shaped support at its head end, each of which are pivotally connected at their upper ends to opposite ends of a pair of spaced parallel horizontal support bars, and a pair of bed frame suspensions, each of which is pivotally connected at its upper end to one of said horizontal bars and each of which is pivotally connected at its lower end to a bed frame.

  • Patent number: 4384384
Abstract: An efficient, durable and inexpensive golf club cleaner comprises a pair of superimposed and connected plate-like brush-supporting members wherein one plate-like member is provided with a large centrally disposed rectangular recess and the other, which is substantially smaller, is provided with a registering central opening which is defined by a frame-like recess in the smaller plate-like member which is adapted to overlie and secure the edges of the back of a rectangular brush that is disposed in the aforementioned recess with the bristles of the brush extending through and projecting from the aforementioned opening. Means are provided for securing the smaller plate-like member to the larger plate-like member when the former is in assembled position; and also means for firmly attaching the larger plate-like member to a suitable support.

  • Patent number: 4382457
Abstract: A tree harvester comprising a mobile frame having a carriage with limb-stripping knives thereon which encircle the tree alternatively in snug or loosely-engaging relation, tree clamping means above the bed of the frame and saw means movably mounted on the clamping means for movement therewith and, in addition, between retracted position and lowered tree-sawing position. Selective rotary log-ejecting means is mounted adjacent the saw to eject the severed tree sections to either side, as desired. The limb-stripping knives progress the stripped portion of the tree beyond the saw and clamping means when in snug position, and strip the limbs off the tree when in loosely-engaging relation as the carriage moves away from the clamping means and saw.

  • Patent number: 4379966
Abstract: Receptacle for a key-like device containing an embedded micro-electronic circuit component with leads thereto extending to the surface of the key. The receptacle defines a keyway in which a plurality of contact heads spaced to correspond to the spacing of the leads on the key are positioned. The contact heads are supported by finger-like spring members which provide inwardly directed pressure against the contact heads when the key leads are brought into engagement with the contact heads. A flexible circuit surrounding the finger spring members and connected to the receptacle contact heads provides means for connecting the micro-electronic circuit in the key with a control circuit such as a computer.
