  • Patent number: 5524716
Abstract: A tool driving apparatus having an elongated mast which is collapsibly mounted on a transportable supporting base therefor, wherein the mast has a movable carriage slidably mounted thereon for movement along the length thereof. A first piston is mounted to the supporting base and is drivingly connected to the carriage mounted on the mast for providing slidable movement thereof, and a second piston is carried by the carriage and is drivingly connected to a separate tool, such as a soil probe. The first piston is disposed opposite relative to the second piston, such that extension of the first piston is in a direction opposite to that of the second, and whereby retraction of the first piston and extension of the second piston will cause the tool to be driven in one direction, and extension of the first piston and retraction of the second piston will cause the tool to be retracted in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 5498084
Abstract: Means and method for restricting the flow of oil which passes between the front bearing and the main shaft of an automatic transmission for motorized vehicles. A gland is formed at the downstream end of the front bearing in either the inner surface of that bearing or of the housing into which the bearing is press-fitted. A split ring made of thermoplastic material having a pressure velocity value in excess of 20,000 at 100 feet/minute surface speed is inserted in the gland and keyed in place against rotation. The ring has a diameter which is slightly less than the diameter of the main shaft which it surrounds, and has circumferential gaps between its overlapping end portions which extend circumferentially 0.006"-0.300" and has axial dimensions of 0.006"-0.150". The circumference of the ring is spaced radially from the opposed wall of the gland at least 0.0005".

  • Patent number: 5466315
Abstract: A non-toxic primer composition for center-fire cartridges which provides improved ballistic data and is void of metallic oxidizing compounds. It is comprised of a mixture of about 10-30% by weight of nitrocellulose and/or a double based propellant such as Hercules Fines, approximately 30-75% by weight of two percussion-sensitive compounds such as DDNP and tetracene, and approximately 10-30% by weight of calcium silicide. The mixture provides improved propellant ignition and non-toxic ignition products, and minimizes misfires in that it contains no hygroscopic compounds.

  • Patent number: 5460259
Abstract: A conveyor system with a support apparatus for maintaining non-pendular substantially straight-line motion of the material-conveying member thereof, wherein the support apparatus includes straight-line linkage which is mounted between a rigid supporting surface and the material-conveying member so as to restrict movement of the material-conveying member to a substantially straight-line non-pendular path parallel with the path of conveyance. Each straight-line linkage assembly which supports the material-conveying member includes a set of three linkage arms which are pivotally interconnected with resilient bushings that continually urge the linkage to a central neutral or resting position during movement thereof. Two of the linkage arms are pivotally connected in spaced relation at one end to a rigid support, and are each pivotally connected at their opposite end to a third intermediate linkage arm which is disposed therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5407263
Abstract: A restructurable enclosure having a plurality of mounting blocks which are secured to the body of the enclosure at various spaced locations around and adjacent the outer peripheral portions of the door and wall panel openings therein. Each of the mounting blocks includes a plurality of threaded bores in the bottom surface thereof which communicate with openings in the enclosure body to facilitate permanent mounting of such blocks to the enclosure, and to facilitate attachment of sub-panels and other assemblies within the interior thereof, without obstructing the same. Each block also includes a pair of threaded or open bores extending inward from its outer mounting surface to facilitate mounting of the enclosure door or various wall panels to the enclosure solely from the exterior of the enclosure, without the need for accessing the interior thereof.

  • Patent number: 5388903
Abstract: A multifaceted modular enclosure frame which is constructed of a latticework of identical cross-sectionally configured frame sections that include an inherent integrally formed guide system for proper installation and positioning of sub-panel mounting boards within the enclosure. Each frame section defines an interiorly disposed guide channel and mounting flange, an exteriorly disposed corner flange, and an exteriorly disposed flange trough, while maintaining an open design and a cross-sectional configuration which mates cooperatively with other identically configured frame sections to provide an integral mitered corner which is devoid of separate corner adapter inserts. The interiorly disposed guide channel provides the integral guide system for the sub-panel mounting boards which are received within the enclosure. Each corner flange defined by such frame sections provides an exterior surface upon which mounting blocks are carried to provide for complete external connection of enclosure wall panels thereto.

  • Patent number: 5355904
Abstract: A stairway climbing aid having a plurality of individual adjustable half-step members fixedly connected to a rigid elongated channel member at spaced locations along the length of the latter to comprise a rigid assembly. The channel member is connected to each of the half-step members adjacent the rear end of the latter and at an elevation and angle such that the channel member will extend upon or adjacent the outer edge of the tread of each step. The half-step members are longitudinally adjustable so that their length can equal the depth of the particular steps to which they are applied. Thus, any stairway can be readily modified to facilitate travel thereover by persons having difficulty in taking full steps, by applying such an assembly to the steps along one side of the stairway, after adjusting the individual half-steps to the depth of the treads.

  • Patent number: 5337645
Abstract: A musical drum mount including a rigid but flexible band which is independent and disconnected from the drum, and which extends circumferentially therearound to support the drum from a conventional supporting structure. The rigid band carries a plurality of circumferentially adjustable insulating supports which extend radially inward from the band so as to engage the drum and support the same within the band without being physically connected thereto. Each of the moveable insulating supports have a drum bearing surface which insulates the drum from the grounding effect of the floor stand or other supporting structure therefor, and engages the drum to support the same above ground level. The circumferential movement of the insulating supports provides versatility of use with a variety of different conventional drum structures having various placement of head tightening lugs therearound. The rigid band is diametrically adjustable so as to accommodate a number of differently sized drums.

  • Patent number: 5318057
Abstract: A combined stability cane and device for assisting a handicapped person in traveling up and down a flight of stairs having vertically spaced steps is disclosed. A rectangular block member or platform has a flat upper surface within which a connector mechanism is provided at its central area, and a second connector mechanism is provided in the upper surface adjacent one of the sides of the block member and opposite the central area. A walking cane having a cooperative connector mechanism adjacent its lower end is provided to alternatively rigidly connect the same to one of the two connector mechanisms in the upper surface of the block member. When the cane is connected to the connector mechanism at the central area of block member, the combination functions as an excellent stability cane.

  • Patent number: 5292189
Abstract: A system for installing and properly positioning a sub-panel mounting board within a freestanding electrical enclosure, wherein the base sections of the enclosure frame form a continuous rectangular guide channel around the inner periphery of the enclosure which is designed to receive in opposite parallel channel segments thereof a pair of channel followers that are connected to opposite lower corners of the mounting board. Each channel follower has a depending leg which extends into its respective channel segment and supports the mounting board during installation thereof. The depending leg of each channel follower engages the bottom of the channel when the mounting board is tilted forward for installation within the enclosure. Once the mounting board is installed and positioned upright, each channel follower rests upon a mounting flange formed by the enclosure frame, thereby allowing the mounting board to be secured thereto.
