  • Patent number: 5027345
Abstract: Relocation and/or replacement of terminal apparatus in telecommunications systems including, but not necessarily limited to, key telephone systems, usually entails reassignment of administration data; for example, features. When a station or terminal apparatus is moved physically from one port to another within a telecommunications system which comprises a plurality of ports connected to a central processor, interface means operative on initial connection of said terminal apparatus transmits to the central processor an identifier unique to such terminal apparatus within such system. The central processing means has storage for each said identifier together with administration data specific to said terminal apparatus and the number of the port to which said terminal apparatus set is connected. Following receipt of an identifier, the central processor updates said storage means to assign said administration data corresponding to said identifier to the present port.

  • Patent number: 5024151
Abstract: Disclosed is a refuse compactor particularly designed for aircrafts, which comprises a compaction chamber having a movable wall panel that extends parallel to one of the side wall of the compaction chamber, and can be moved away from this side wall through a very simple mechanism which is operated either directly by a hand-lever or indirectly through the service door of the compactor cabinet when this service door is closed for refuse compaction into a container. In both cases, the very purpose of this lateral motion of the movable wall panel relative to the adjacent side wall is to release the pressure of the refuse container inside the compaction chamber after completion of the compaction, and thus makes this container easily discardable into a storage chamber if any, or out of the compactor. The operation of the movable wall panel is exclusively mechanical and is therefore very simple and reliable.

  • Patent number: 5025379
Abstract: A system and method for automatically controlling a vehicle speed to a desired cruise speed are disclosed in which whether a microcomputer of a control unit is enabled to perform a cruise speed control is determined on the basis of a plurality of determining factors and a power supply of a throttle actuator for actuating an engine throttle valve so as to adjust an opening angle of the throttle valve is enabled only when all of the determining factors satisfy a condition of enabling the cruise speed control via the actuator and is disabled when at least one of the determining factors does not satisfy the condition.

  • Patent number: 5022723
Abstract: The panoramic periscope has a panoramic head and a tube. In the panoramic head is mounted a viewing mirror movable in elevation and azimuth, upstream of which is arranged an at least bispectral front window. Various measuring or observation devices, for example a daylight and night vision device and a laser range-finder, are provided in the tube. Panoramic head and tube are connected to one another by an optically transmitting component such as a transparent cylinder or by webs. As a result, the visual beam path can be reflected out laterally by means of a spectrum divider, so that the latter can be arranged in the observation beam path immediately downstream of the viewing mirror in the upper tube portion. In addition to a compact design, this also makes possible a separate, better optimization of the optical systems for the daylight and night vision range.

  • Patent number: 5022976
Abstract: A receiving jig for PGAs comprises a rectangular base-plate made of a corrosion-resistant metal which has at least one hole. The lengths of the edges of the base-plate have at least the dimensions of the PGA housing. Arranged on the metal baseplate are bars parallel to the surface at equidistant spacings and the height of the bars above the baseplate is at least half the length of the pins of the PGAs. The spacing between two bars on the surface of the baseplate corresponds to twice the spacing between two adjacent rows of pins on the PGA. There should be at least enough bars present to make contact with all the pins of the PGA.

  • Patent number: 5020311
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to a device for producing highly compressed cylindrical bales from loose stalk material, such as hay or straw, which is picked up continuously and is compressed to form a rotating compressed roll which flows continuously in an axial direction. Individual compressed roll sections (bales) are successively cut off from the front end of the compressed roll. For producing dimensionally stable bales of varying length, the compressed roll, which is still subject to radial pressure, is bound automatically by a binder during its axially feeding and before a bale is cut off. The binder is delivered under tension and utilizes the rotation and feed of the compression roll.

  • Patent number: 5015153
Abstract: The load torque of a compressor for circulating refrigerant in a refrigerating cycle changes with the rotational position of the shaft of the compressor, and the phase difference between the primary current and voltage of an induction motor for driving the compressor changes with the load torque. Taking the above facts into consideration, in turning off the compressor driven by the induction motor, which is powered by a fixed frequency AC power source, the shaft position of the compressor is detected in accordance with the phase difference, and the current of the motor is turned off at the timing of a particular phase difference when the load torque becomes minimum, thus reducing vibration when the compressor is stopped.
