  • Patent number: 4667697
Abstract: A unitized check valve for use with corrosive fluid includes a generally cylindrical body. A valve seat is disposed in the body and a first set of angularly spaced apart arcuate flanges depends from the outlet end. A valve disk is coaxially associated with the seat and is adapted for axial movement to block and unblock the aperture in order to control the flow of fluid through the body. A valve retainer has a second set of angularly spaced apart arcuate flanges. The flanges of one of the sets extend generally radially inwardly and the flanges of the other one of the sets extend generally radially outwardly. The flanges of the second set are positionable between adjacent ones of the flanges of the first set. A coil spring bears against the valve disk and the retainer and is responsive to flow fluctuations on the disk for thereby permitting movement of the disk.

  • Patent number: 4660610
Abstract: An insulating device is disclosed as suitable for encasing and supporting a welding torch. The device is L-shape when finally assembled being formed by two T-shape panel members of closely woven fabric material. These panels are stitched along their contiguous edges and then folded to form an L-shape pouch or glove for the torch, the folded sections being held by heat conductive rings which serve to conduct heat from the stitching material. The folded sections are arranged to provide a corner opening for permitting the ingress and egress of the torch to the interior of the device.

  • Patent number: 4656856
Abstract: The apparatus and method for eliminating crescent formation in a steel strip reduction mill includes a strip tension monitor which measures the tension between the stands and transmits the measured tension to a controller. A roll speed monitor for the driven roll of the stands transmits data to the controller indicative of the roll speed. A tail end detector is positioned upstream of the upstream stand for detecting the tail end of the strip and for transmitting that information to the controller. A controller receives the data and calculates a target interstand strip tension when the tail end is sensed and causes a speed controller to increase the rotational speed of the rolls and to thereby decrease the strip tension until such time as the measured tension equals the target interstand tension.
