  • Patent number: 4740484
Abstract: A method for manufacturing integrated circuits in which conductors and gate structures are built-up on a substrate plate, the conductors incorporating a layer of polycrystalline silicon and the gate structures including a gate electrode of polycrystalline silicon, where each of the gate structures is surrounded by doped source-and-drain-areas and where the gate electrode and the source-and-drain-areas respectively are metallized by depositing thereon a metal which reacts with the silicon from which the gate electrode and the source-and-drain-areas are comprised, so as to form a silicide layer. In accordance with the invention the gate electrode (3) is metallized in a first process stage. The source-and-drain-areas (18, 19) are metallized in a later process stage. Subsequent to metallizing the gate electrode in the first process stage, a protective layer (5) is applied to the metallized layer (4) of the gate electrode in a second process stage.

  • Patent number: 4738744
Abstract: One-sided corrugated board machine having at least two pair of corrugated rollers, a lower pair and an upper pair, wherein each pair of lower and upper corrugated rollers are supported on separate lateral, pivotable and fixable bearing brackets. A movable glue-applying device and clamping roller are provided such that they can be moved away from the pivoting path of the corrugated rollers. When it is desired to change the rollers of a single pair, one for another, the glue-applying device and the clamping roller are moved away from the pivoting path and the corrugated rollers are pivoted so as to change each pair of rollers one for another without having to rethread the paper tracks.

  • Patent number: 4736229
Abstract: An improved method of manufacturing active matrix display backplanes with thin film transistors thereon and a drive scheme therefor. A refractory metal covers the indium tin oxide (ITO) layer, patterned to form a gate electrode for the transistors and to protect the pixel pad ITO during formation of the transistors. To reduce shorts and capacitance between the gate and the source or the drain, an intermetal dielectric is patterned to form a central portion over a planar portion of the gate region and to cover any exposed gate edges.

  • Patent number: 4728926
Abstract: Apparatus enables the identification of a periodic composite signal made up of a train of elementary signals and produced, for example by a marine light. At each elementary signal of the composite signal, the operator operates a switch feeding into the apparatus pulses which are treated by a microprocessor; the trains of these pulses are stored in a live memory, compared to each other in such a way that there is retained only that train which is the most representative, this most representative train being compared with information contained in dead memories constituting a reference table. That one of the sets of information contained in the memories which appears as being identical to the train of pulses recognized as being representative is then displayed as an indication directly usable to enable the operator to know the identity of the emitter and, may be, the main characteristics of this emitter such as its name, its position, or other characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4717361
Abstract: A contact for a connector, which includes two opposed contact elements for receiving therebetween a male contact of a mating connector. Each the contact element is provided with one or more protrusions on an opposed surface for embracing the male contact. Protrusions of the two opposed contact elements extend to that portions of the opposed contact elements which are devoid of the protrusions so as to overlap each other before the male contact is inserted between the contact elements. With this arrangement, even if the male contact is very thin, pressing force required to securely pressing the male contact by the contact elements is certainly obtained. The contact and the male contact are securely contacted without any torsional force and other forces which would otherwise be caused on these contacts.

  • Patent number: 4717271
Abstract: A character-carrying disc comprises, arranged on its front face, a circular arc-shaped wire spring ended by two branches, which are rectilinear and bent inwardly constituting a small fork adapted to grip the shaft of a printing machine in which the disc is used and to engage an annular groove of this shaft. This disc carries a slidable pin on a shoulder of which the central portion of the arc-shaped part of the spring bears so as to maintain the pin in an axial position in which it co-operates with a member of the machine to provide a drive connection for rotation of the disc. Thus, the spring performs a double function, ensuring on the one hand the return of the pin to its working position and on the other hand the securing of the disc on the shaft of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4709830
Abstract: A tamper evident closure for a wide mouth container having a closed endcap with an overcap to coaxially rotate thereabout. The overcap is provided with an integrally formed vertically depending knife blade which is constructed and arranged to engage a weakened portion of a raised annular rib in the endcap. The endcap is further provided with a raised hollow lug which projects vertically through a corresponding aperture in the overcap. The aperture is provided with a cutting edge. As the overcap is rotated, the cutting edge of the aperture severs the raised lug, thus providing an early indication of tampering. As the overcap is rotated further and completes a rotation about said container, the knife blade completely severs the weakened portion of the raised annular rib, thus completely detaching the closure from the container. An annular bead in said overcap and a corresponding groove in said endcap may be used to reattach the severed overcap to the body of the container for reuse of the contents therein.
