  • Patent number: 5575095
Abstract: A chair, in particular a work or office chair, having a seat that is pivotal toward the front of the seat about a horizontal pivot axis. The seat is variable in inclination and has a backrest that is overproportionately variable in inclination as a function of the change in inclination of the seat. With increasing inclination of the seat, the backrest follows an additional relative motion with respect to a backrest end of the seat. Pivot levers are positioned to support arms of the chair frame on both sides of the seat. The free ends of the pivot levers are fixedly and non-rotatably attached to the backrest for support. The seat is rotatably connected to the pivot levers approximately in its middle region. The desired relative motions between the seat, seat back and chair frame can be accomplished and varied solely by means of the connection between the seat, the backrest, pivot levers which serve as arm supports or armrests, and the chair frame.

  • Patent number: 5573391
Abstract: A burner apparatus and method for reducing nitrogen oxides that are formed during combustion of gaseous fuel. Primary gaseous fuel and excess oxidant are premixed to form a fuel/oxidant mixture which is introduced into and combusted within a primary combustion zone. Primary combustion products are introduced into a secondary combustion zone. Secondary gaseous fuel is also introduced into the secondary combustion zone and is preferably mixed with the primary combustion products. The mixture of secondary gaseous fuel and primary combustion products is combusted in a secondary combustion zone. A portion of the secondary combustion products are internally recirculated into the secondary combustion zone. The overall combustion products can be externally recirculated and introduced into the primary combustion zone. A portion of the fuel/oxidant mixture, with or without the recirculated overall combustion products, can be bypassed around the primary combustion zone and introduced into the secondary combustion zone.

  • Patent number: 5566864
Abstract: A container having a screw cap and a lower closure member to be connected to the container opening by a base member with a pouring spout connected thereto by an extendible bellows. The screw cap is adapted to be screwed onto and off the pouring spout. In order to render the closure childproof the pouring spout of the lower closure member, beyond its external thread, in a transitional region directed towards the bellows, carries a catch projection, which in the screwing-on direction comprises a gradually rising flank and merges into a steep flank. The cap side wall in the fully screwed-on position is in positive engagement with the catch projection and prevents unscrewing of the screw cap. By pressing inwardly the bellows in the region of the catch projection, the positive engagement between the screw cap and the pouring spout is cancelled and the screw cap is released for being unscrewed.

  • Patent number: 5564713
Abstract: A blade-opening arrowhead wherein at least one blade, preferably two blades, are pivotally mounted with respect to a blade carrying body. A bias force is used to urge an engagement member against a corresponding blade. The bias force is preferably selected so that each blade remains in a normally closed position during flight or during handling of the arrowhead, but yet responsively and quickly moves to a fully open position upon impact or when a sufficient opening force is applied to the blade.

  • Patent number: 5562273
Abstract: A pluggable coupling for pressure lines having a female coupling connector and a male coupling connector. The female coupling connector has two axially aligned connecting bores with different diameters and an annular groove formed between a wall surrounding the larger bore and a nipple surrounding the smaller bore. The male connector can be inserted into the larger bore of the female coupling connector. In the process, the male coupling connector is pushed over the nipple. A sealing element is positioned within a circular male coupling groove of the male coupling connector and sealingly encloses a smooth exterior surface of the nipple. The male coupling connector can be connected and disconnected from the female coupling connector with a relatively small amount of force as compared to the force required to connect and disconnect conventional couplings.

  • Patent number: 5560113
Abstract: A bowsight for attachment to a bow. The bowsight has a crosswire frame which is supported by a bracket held to the bow. A pin slide is formed in an inner frame member and has a cylindrical opening. The pins can emit light and are mounted in transparent discs which slide into the cylindrical opening and which are tightened by an Allen screw against a slot in the disc, thereby expanding the disc against the side of the pin slot. The transparent disc gathers surrounding light and transmits or directs the light to the light-emitting pin. A lens or a light-emitting source can be positioned in the cylindrical opening to surround the transparent disc with light. The crosswire frame may be incrementally moved up and down with respect to the bracket by locking a spring-loaded ball bearing in any one of a plurality of detents in the frame. The spring-loaded ball bearing may be forcibly engaged so that the spring is completely compressed thereby locking the ball bearing in a chosen detent.
