  • Patent number: 4402009
Abstract: Apparatus for enhancing incomplete, limited bandwidth, sequential signals generated by an image sensor. Each of the incomplete signals comprises a plurality of alternate lines containing information, the lines interposed therebetween being blanked. A picture display device is also provided, and an intermediate storage device interposed between the image sensor and the display device. The storage device stores a first of the incomplete image signals and combines it with the next sequential image signal to form a complete image signal. The complete image sgnal, which is displayed on the display device, contains the information in the next incomplete image signal on alternate lines, the lines therebetween containing the information in the first incomplete image signal. The invention also constitutes a method for enhancing incomplete limited bandwidth sequential signals wherein a first of these signals is stored and then combined with the next sequential image signal to form the complete image signal.

  • Patent number: 4400183
Abstract: Process for separating the noble fission gases xenon and krypton from a prepurified waste gas from a nuclear plant. The prepurified waste gas is brought into contact with liquid Cl.sub.2 CF.sub.2 as an absorption agent in a first column at an operating pressure which is less than or equal to normal pressure, whereby Xe, Kr, N.sub.2 O, CO.sub.2, O.sub.2 and N.sub.2 are absorbed by the agent. Subsequently, the liquid absorption agent containing the absorbed gases is heated to substantially the boiling temperature of Cl.sub.2 CF.sub.2 at the operating pressure for vaporizing part of the liquid absorption agent and desorbing the absorbed Kr, N.sub.2 and O.sub.2 to thereby separate the Kr and Xe from one another. The desorbed Kr, N.sub.2 and O.sub.2 gases are separated from the vaporized absorption agent. The liquid absorption agent which has not been vaporized is treated to recover Xe, N.sub.2 O and CO.sub.2. Waste gas containing Kr, N.sub.2 and O.sub.

  • Patent number: 4400630
Abstract: A frequency multiplier uses a pair of Schottky diodes to rectify an applied signal, with the rectified waveforms provided by both diodes being combined to produce an output signal having a predominant frequency of twice the applied frequency. In order to prevent distortion occuring at low signal levels, a d.c. bias is applied to the diodes so as to bias them at their threshold values. The effect of temperature variations on the diodes is minimized by using a further diode to determine the effective value of the bias voltage.

  • Patent number: 4400621
Abstract: A device for simultaneously detecting alpha and beta particles which comprises a detector element, amplification means coupled to the output of the detector element and measuring means coupled to the output of the amplification means. The alpha and beta particles which impinge on the detector element exhibit different ionization densities, and this results in a voltage being generated at the output of the amplification means which has a rise time and amplitude corresponding to the type of particle impinging on the detector element. The measuring means measures at least the rise time of the voltage at the output of the amplification means, the rise time being different for the alpha and beta particles and providing a means for distinguishing between the two types of particles.

  • Patent number: 4395693
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical winding for a transformer, a choke coil or the like, particularly for high frequencies, wherein the conductor forming the winding is radially subdivided into n subconductors and within the winding the subconductors are twisted in such a manner that the initially innermost subconductor, after twisting comes to lie outermost, the subconductor in the second innermost position, after twisting comes to lie at the second outermost position, etc. If the subconductors are designed as conductor tapes, the subconductors 1 through (n-1) comprise two partially overlapping tape sections which in the overlap region are conductively connected together at the side edges of the tape, the n.sup.th conductor tape being made of one piece and forming one of the outwardly disposed subconductors of the conductor.

  • Patent number: 4395088
Abstract: A color selective filter in the form of a holographic reflector is produced by a method which includes the step of exposing a photosensitive film of gelatine to a monochromatic laser beam. In order to obtain acceptably short exposure times and to enable substantially the whole of the available laser light to be utilized, a relatively narrow laser beam is sequentially scanned across the surface area of the gelatine film in a scanning pattern which consists of a large number of parallel straight lines. The diameter of the laser beam spot is very large as compared with the spacing between adjacent line scans. In this way each point on the gelatine film is scanned a very large number of times. The laser beam 8 is generated by a laser 7 and deflected by two movable mirrors 10 and 11, which are controlled so that the beam scans the whole of the gelatine film 1.
