    Abstract: A method for photometrically measuring a reaction process at a darkened measuring station which contains a sample having an unknown quantity of a substance which acts as a reaction partner with a reagent. The sample is provided with a first reagent which acts as a reaction partner with a reaction partner present in the sample. A first photometric measurement of the sample is taken at the darkened measuring station to measure the reaction process between the first reagent and the reaction partner in the sample, and this first measurement is used for computation. At least one additional reagent which differs from the first reagent and which constitutes a further reaction partner is added to the sample at the darkened measuring station after the first photometric measurement. A photometric measurement of the sample is conducted after the addition of each additional reagent and during the course of a reaction between reaction partners then present.

    Abstract: An apparatus for separating sponge iron products from the hot discharge material of a rotary furnace. A discharge chamber is connected to the rotary furnace for receiving the hot discharge material from the rotary furnace. A screen is provided at the lower end of the discharge chamber for separating the sponge iron products from the hot discharge material. The screen is attached to a support which is removably sealed to the lower end of the discharge chamber and is provided with a mechanism for displacing the support and attached screen. The support includes a discharge chute connected beneath the screen for carrying away the material which passes through the screen and is provided with cooling means.

    Abstract: In a Doppler radar system any one received signal contains components having different Doppler frequencies. This is because the received signal is derived from reflections off a range of different positions within the beamwidth of the system.It is often only that frequency component which is derived from a reflection along the boresight of the system which is of interest. Difficulty arises in determining which component this is. Because of variations of the reflective properties of the surface from which the reflections are received, it cannot correctly be assumed to be the strongest component.The invention identifies the components of the received signals derived from reflections along the boresight of the system by analyzing each of two signals received at different times, into components having different Doppler shifts. Values are then calculated of the relative strengths (e.g. ratios or differences) of components of the two signals derived from reflections off the same position.

    Abstract: A method for digitally regulating the residual carrier phase error in receivers of digital data transmission systems. A comparator compares the sampled data signal or value of the carrier demodulated input signal to the receiver with the estimated value for each associated sampling time or moment as provided by a decider, to determine the deviation dk which is a measure for the phase difference between the sampled value and the associated estimated value. This deviation dk is filtered in a digital loop filter, including a proportional branch and an integration branch, and a regulating value for the demodulated input signal is obtained from a subsequently connected accumulator. A non-linear limitation on the deviation dk is included in the integration branch of the digital loop filter.

    Abstract: A displacement converting circuit arrangement comprising first and second capacitors in the form of a paired structure, at least one of the capacitors having a capacitance which is varied in response to a mechanical displacement. Means are provided for deriving first and second currents respectively proportional to the capacitances of the first and second capacitors, means for maintaining at least one of the DC currents corresponding to at least one capacitor having a variable capacitance at a fixed amount, and means for producing an output current corresponding to the difference between the DC currents, so that the output current indicates the amount of the mechanical displacement. Operation stability is improved by the simplified circuit arrangement, with consequent reduction in error and circuit failure. The movable electrode for varying the capacitance can withstand a heavy load.

    Abstract: A line end stage for a television receiver which comprises a transformer, a first high voltage rectifier and a second high voltage rectifier. The transformer has a primary winding coupled to the line sweep coils of the receiver, and a secondary winding. The transformer comprises a core having a longitudinal axis. The winding form is provided with spaced longitudinally-distributed radially-extending chambers and the secondary winding is located within these chambers. The thicknesses of the winding form between the bottoms of the chambers and the primary winding are greatest at the ends of the winding form and become progressively smaller toward the center of the form.
