Abstract: A DC-DC converter includes a switching element to generate a pulse waveform by repeatedly admitting and cutting off the input voltage, a fluctuation component restraining circuit to restrain a fluctuation component generated in superposition on the pulse waveform and having a shorter cycle than a cycle of the pulse waveform, and a control circuit to operate the fluctuation component restraining circuit when the input voltage is equal to or larger than a reference voltage.

Abstract: In a method for detecting a signal in a multi-input multi-output wireless communication system that receives signals transmitted through a plurality of transmission antennas by using a plurality of reception antennas, a detection order for detecting the transmission signals received through the reception antennas is determined on the basis of a cofactor determinant of components constituting a channel matrix representing characteristics of channels between the transmission antennas and the reception antennas. In addition, the transmission signal is detected from the signals received through the reception antennas in accordance with the determined detection order.

Abstract: Provided are an efficient handover apparatus and method in a mobile node. In the method in which a handover is performed in a mobile node which establishes a data communication through a point of attachment (PoA), the method including receiving information regarding capabilities of a new PoA; determining whether Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) prefix is available at the new PoA, based on the information regarding the capabilities of the new PoA; and generating an address which is to be used by the mobile node in a data communication with the new PoA, according to a method determined based on whether IPv6 prefix is available at the new PoA. Thus, it is possible to determine whether IPv6 prefix is available at a new point of attachment prior to receiving a router advertisement (RA) message.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an engine unit to execute an image forming job, a determination unit to repeatedly determine whether the image forming apparatus is in a standby state or not, based on whether the standby state to wait for execution of the image forming job is maintained for a predetermined time or not, and a controller to control the image forming apparatus to operate in a first power saving mode if it is determined that the image forming apparatus is in the standby state, wherein, in the first power saving mode, information stored in a volatile memory is copied to an internal memory and operation frequencies of a CPU, the volatile memory, and an intellectual property are lowered. Accordingly, power consumption in the standby state is reduced in a stepwise manner.

Abstract: A working skill estimating program is provided for estimating working skills of each agent in the state of separating a disturbance factor from response records (incidents). A large category classifier is supplied with the incidents within a predetermined time and classifies the incidents according to classification rules, for creating the topic-classified incidents. A small category generator collects the analogous incidents for each task type of the topic-classified incidents and generates a small category. A disturbance distinguisher distinguishes if the incidents belonging to each small category are common response records that appear regularly over time or disturbances whose frequency exhibits a significant time dependency. Then, a skill estimator estimates the working skills of each agent for each task type by using only common incidents determined as the common information.

Abstract: A prediction error generating unit generates a predictive vector from the motion vectors of a plurality of adjacent blocks, and obtains a difference from a target vector. A plurality of variable-length coding units respectively encode the output of the prediction error generating unit with different encoding methods. A determining unit estimates the accuracy of the predictive vector generated by the prediction error generating unit based on the degrees of non-uniformity of the motion vectors of the plurality of adjacent blocks. Abstract: An image processing system includes: an image input unit which reads an image printed on a medium and generates electronic data representing the image; and a processing unit which corrects the image represented by the electronic data. The processing unit implements the functions of: detecting, from the image represented by the electronic data, a first pattern having a first size and shape that is attached to the image; measuring a degree of degradation by measuring an amount of displacement of the size of the detected first pattern from the first size; and correcting the image represented by the electronic data to reduce the degree of degradation.

Abstract: An improved method and a communication means node implementing the method for load control in connection with a multimedia service transmission intended for multiple receivers over a wireless network are disclosed. The receivers in the wireless network are able to respond to requests communicated from an ordering entity by feeding back responses to a management entity in said wireless network. The feedback of these responses uses a different communication means, separate from said wireless network. This different communication means has limited communication resources. A transmission load caused in said different communication means by said feedback of said responses is according to the invention controlled by the different communication means itself.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method of interpolating an image via a region division are provided. To improve an image quality artifact around an edge, the apparatus to interpolate the image may determine whether an inputted image corresponds to an edge after performing a thinning process with respect to a gradient value of the inputted image, and convert a resolution of the image using optimal location information via a region division and a pixel replacement according to an interpolation direction of the image.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a generic packet block applicable to multiple routing schemes in low-power sensor networks and a method of providing the same which reduces operations and information required for a routing scheme in the low-power sensor network and provides flexible extension applicable to various multi-hop routing schemes. The generic packet block includes a generic routing header and routing block, and the method of providing the same is widely applicable to a multi-hop routing. The generic routing header includes a routing packet type, routing address information, and the like, commonly required for the multi-hop routing. The routing block is located in a routing packet body and includes routing cost information changeable depending on a routing scheme, and information changeable depending on a routing operation scheme.

Abstract: A user state presumption system and method determines whether a user has exhibited a specific intended behavior that is an aim of service(s) provided by analyzing data of a series of accesses of the user made relative to the service(s). An intended behavior probability calculator is provided which calculates, every predetermined period, a proportion of users who have exhibited the intended behavior among the plurality of users and records the obtained proportion calculated to implement the user state presumption system and method.

Abstract: A method of performing cache coloring includes the steps of generating a dynamic function flow representing a temporal sequence in which a plurality of functions are called at a time of executing a program comprised of the plurality of functions by executing the program by a computer, generating function strength information in response to the dynamic function flow by use of the computer, the function strength information including information about runtime relationships between any given one of the plurality of functions and all the other ones of the plurality of functions in terms of a way the plurality of functions are called and further including information about degree of certainty of cache miss occurrence, and allocating the plurality of functions to memory space by use of the computer in response to the function strength information such as to reduce instruction cache conflict.

Abstract: A scanning apparatus and method for generating computer models of three-dimensional objects comprising means for scanning the object to capture data from a plurality of points on the surface of the object so that the scanning means may capture data from two or more points simultaneously, sensing the position of the scanning means, generating intermediate data structures from the data, combining intermediate data structures to provide the model; display, and manually operating the scanning apparatus. The signal generated is structured light in the form of a stripe or an area from illumination sources such as a laser diode or bulbs which enable data for the position and color of the surface to be determined. The object may be on a turntable and may be viewed in real time as rendered polygons on a monitor as the object is scanned.
