Abstract: An endotracheal tube and suction catheter system having an inflatable cuff with a collection pocket formed in the cuff for collecting pooled secretions and a railing system for controllably guiding a suction catheter along the tube and into the pocket for aspirating pooled secretions. The cuff has an elongated parallelogram-like shape to counter the rocking phenomenon caused by a patient coughing or turning to keep the cuff in contact with the trachea wall so secretions do not leak past the cuff balloon. The railing system allows the suction catheter to be replaced without having to remove the endotracheal tube from the patient.

Abstract: A remote control support tower having a support frame secured to a rotatable platform or adjustable height stand and an optical wave guide system wherein the optical wave guide system comprises at least one optical wave guide that receives remote control signals along one path and redirects or retransmits the signals along a second path in the direction of electronic equipment being controlled. The remote control support tower may also include a lamp fixture. In an alternative embodiment, the remote control tower includes a height adjustable stand, a bracket rotatably connected to the stand, a remote control holder unit rotatably mounted to the bracket and remote control clamp/clip for mounting the remote control to the holder.

Abstract: A radial arm saw is adapted with a safety top configured with cutting box enclosure that contains and collects substantially all of the sawdust generated during use. A dust collection system is in fluid communication with the cutting box for removing the sawdust contained therein. Spring biased push blocks function to hold the work piece in place during the sawing process while maintaining the user's hands safely away from the saw blade. A laser alignment device projects a beam within the cutting box along the cutting plane. A control panel is provided to allow use by authorized users upon entry of an authorization code.

Abstract: An electronic personal monitoring device that informs the user, i.e. tutor or guardian, when an unauthorized person has come too close to the protected person, i.e. target person, or when the target person moves or has been moved outside a calculated tutor monitoring range wherein the device continually monitors, i.e. self-monitoring, so long as the alarm system is enabled and produces an alarm signal when triggered, which may be a silent or vibration alarm, audible alarm or visual alarm.

Abstract: A plumbing pipe plug apparatus configured for insertion into a section of pipe and adapted to radially expand so as to engage the inner surface of the pipe and form a positive seal therewith is disclosed. The pipe plug is adapted with a conduit having a check valve that opens in response to fluid pressure to enable the injection into the plumbing system of a pressurized fluid, such as water, to pressurize the system downstream of the plug to allow for leak inspection and pressure testing.

Abstract: A universal packaging solution for use in packaging cellular telephones and other hand-held electronic devices in cartons adapted with an insert formed from a single piece of cardboard that is die-cut and folded so as to form a packaging container suitable for housing a wide variety of cellular telephones and accessories. Once folded into the intended configuration, the packaging insert defines a chamber having a transparent window for receiving the device, and a base for maintaining the device within a box in a configuration that allows for visual inspection of the device while preventing damage to the device as a result of shock during transit. The packaging insert further includes a plurality of apertures strategically located and spaced for receiving and securing accessories, such as charging units, therein so as to anchor the accessories within the packaging.

Abstract: An improved split bearing for use with an aircraft landing gear assembly is disclosed. The split bearing includes first and second semi-cylindrical sleeve components adapted for installation in surrounding relation with the piston tube of a hydraulically actuated landing gear system of an aircraft. A retaining flange secures the split-bearing sleeve components and is adapted for assembly into an integral and complete nose gear lower bearing that allows removal of the main wear component without complete disassembly of the nose gear. A preferred embodiment disclosed herein is particularly adapted for use on an Embraer™ Emb120 turbo propeller aircraft. The nose gear lower bearing disclosed herein is designed to allow aircraft technicians the ability to quickly change the main wear portion of the lower bearing without the need to discharge, remove and/or disassemble the nose gear from the aircraft.

Abstract: A drain system is disclosed for use with aluminum screen enclosures to allow for adequate drainage of surface water accumulating on the deck. A screen enclosure base rail is adapted with at least one section having a one-way drain apparatus through which water and debris may flow. A pivotal door disposed within the drain apparatus functions as a one-way door to allow water to drain from the enclosed area while preventing water and/or animals from entering. The drain system is preferably incorporated into an otherwise conventional screen enclosure base rail at one or more suitable locations to provide adequate drainage, and does not adversely effect installation of the screen enclosure, nor does it effect structural integrity.

Abstract: A pipe plug apparatus configured for insertion into a section of pipe and adapted to radially expand so as to engage the inner surface of the pipe and form a positive seal therewith. The pipe plug is preferably configurable from a non-sealing configuration wherein radailly expandable seals are relaxed by application of pressure from a compressed fluid, to a spring biased sealing configuration automatically upon release of the pressure. A positive seal is automatically formed and maintained by spring biased axial compression.

Abstract: A book-like reading teaching tool having a plurality of columns wherein each column contains each letter of the alphabet in ascending format, which are simultaneously viewable, a picture corresponding to each sound of each letter in the alphabet and structure for interchanging, mixing and matching letters and identifying and selecting long vowel and short vowel sounds. The reading tool includes a front cover, back cover, spiral binder, instructions, alphabet indicia, plurality of pictures corresponding to each letter and sound in the alphabet, plurality of windows or cutouts corresponding to selected letters and sounds, short vowel sound indicia, long vowel sound indicia and plurality of flip panels arranged in columns wherein each panel in each column contains a letter indicia. The covers, pages and panels have a plurality of apertures that are joined at coinciding ends by the spiral binder.

Abstract: An improved hoop-type amusement system is disclosed wherein a plurality of variously sized and shaped connectable components may be selectively interconnected by the user to form simple and complex hoop configurations of a particular size and complex geometric shape. Hoop components may have opposing ends that are adapted for mating engagement with other components to form a hoop of a particular size and shape. In addition, the hoop components may include a radially inner edge defining a recessed groove, and a radially outer edge defining a projecting tongue, or opposite variations thereof, thereby enabling the components to be connected with other components in tongue and groove engagement to form a wide variety of hoop configurations, whether annular or otherwise, thereby enhancing fun and enjoyment.

Abstract: A carrying case adapted for organizing and transporting jewelry items is disclosed. The case includes a generally rectangular main body having a plurality of flat, rectangular panels attached to the peripheral side edges thereof. The rectangular panels are foldably positionable between a compact closed configuration wherein the panels are disposed in adjacent overlapping relation within the main body to an open configuration wherein the rectangular panels are outwardly deployed. One of the rectangular panels is detachable and may be rolled into a closed configuration to permit the user to take selected jewelry items while traveling. The main body and each rectangular panel are configured with transparent pockets, ring mounting cylinders, and necklace pouches, for organizing and storing a wide variety of jewelry items including rings, necklaces, pendants, ear rings, bracelets, and other jewelry items.

Abstract: A hurricane and power outage fan that includes a battery powered fan that is operable for a period of time on the power stored in a number of batteries provided with the fan. The battery-powered fan includes an AC to DC converter that supplies power to a trickle charge circuit for keeping the batters fully charged as long as the AC plug is plugged into a power outlet. When the power goes out, the fan runs on the batteries for a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: A method of rapid biochemical cycling of aquariums using naturally preserved granular marine substrate material, such as sand or aragonite, to rapidly denitrify the aquatic environment and to establish biochemical conditions that are favorable to the survival and viability of fish, crustaceans, invertebrates, and other marine aquatic life. The method includes the steps of harvesting and packaging marine sand such that marine microorganisms, in the form of biofilm attached to the sand, are preserved with an optimal amount of water and air in retail packaging specifically dimensioned and configured for maintaining ammonia oxidizing bacteria in a state wherein the bacteria are capable of metabolic and physiologic activity after prolonged periods at room temperature. Harvesting and packaging marine microorganisms according to the disclosed method allows for widespread distribution to consumers through conventional retail sales channels.

Abstract: An automatic functioning light and warning system with remote signaling for use with mobility assistance devices, such as wheelchairs and walkers, having a housing, at least one detachable clamp connected to the housing, a battery-powered light incorporated into the housing, an internal audio alarm incorporated into the housing, an active or passive motion detection sensor and associated signal processing circuitry incorporated within the housing. The invention may use replaceable or rechargeable batteries as the power source. The remote receiver may be a stand alone device or interfaced into a monitoring system. A time delay circuit may be incorporated into the invention to automatically turn the light or alarm off at a predetermined time after activation and a sensor that prevents actuation of the light source when ambient light is above a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A flag extension and retraction system comprising an outer pole having a slot for receiving a flag, inner pole rotatably disposed in the outer pole, flag affixed to the inner pole, structure for securing the flag to the inner pole, retraction system for guiding the flag into the outer pole slot, guide sleeve for assisting with the alignment of the flag with the outer pole slot, rotation system for rotating the flag into the outer pole, and elevator system for raising and lowering the inner pole. The instant invention may also include an adjustable base, a plurality of prongs on the outer pole for assisting with guiding the flag into the outer pole slot, a cap attached to the top of the inner pole in a manner that receives the prongs into the cap and electronic controls.

Abstract: A fall protection lanyard apparatus for use in transferring loads in an elevated environment. The fall protection lanyard apparatus includes first and second load-bearing lanyards, each terminating in a connectable free end. Each lanyard is preferably attached to a common point, such as a load bearing steel O-ring, which in turn is attached to a safety harness which secures the load. The first lanyard incorporates a quick-release mechanism, which, upon activation, results in the separation of the hook and free end portion thereof. The second lanyard incorporates a mechanism for activating the quick-release upon application of a predetermined force thereon.
