  • Patent number: 7883303
Abstract: A machine tool spindle structure capable of monitoring a working state in real time includes a spindle body, a rotating mandrel, a cutter base, and an internal inspecting device. The cutter base is combined with the rotating mandrel and rotates with the rotating mandrel. The rotating mandrel has a chamber, and the internal inspecting device is disposed in the chamber. Inspecting chips in the internal inspecting device are directly disposed on the cutter base, so as to measure working parameters during a processing process. The working parameters are transmitted to an external information device by a wireless transmission module in the internal inspecting device, thereby accurately giving a feedback of the working state of a processing cutter in real time.

  • Patent number: 7883033
Abstract: A cartridge for an electrohydrodynamic spraying device and a spraying device incorporating the cartridge, where the cartridge includes a locking mechanism. The cartridge is disposable, and can contain therapeutic or other fluid products. The fluid is delivered from the cartridge by a shaft-mounted piston, while the locking mechanism can be selectively engaged with the shaft such that in the engaged position, the locking mechanism prevents the piston from advancing by inhibiting movement of the shaft. When the locking mechanism is disengaged from the shaft, the shaft and piston are free to move, such as in response to a power source in the spraying device. The selective engagement between the locking mechanism and the shaft during periods of inoperability of the spray device prevents the buildup of fluid pressure in the cartridge that otherwise could blurt out upon subsequent operation.

  • Patent number: 7849850
Abstract: An improved Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) nozzle particularly suitable for a handheld pulmonary aerosol inhaler increases the consistent and efficient dispensing of therapeutic liquids by reducing or eliminating wetting through shielding of discharge electrodes. Some versions further eliminate wetting while enhances neutralization of the aerosol through presentation of a corona wind of ions annularly surround the aerosol. Incorporation of improved liquid distribution with consistent pressure drops to each EHD nozzle tip allows horizontal dispensing, and by using dielectric nozzle tips with low surface energy to thereby avoid wicking between dispenses and to advantageously reduce achievable particle size when dispensing. Some versions feature enhanced snap-fit assembly and other manufacturability advantages. One of the unique features of the EHD nozzles is achieved high dose rate (microliters/minute) with low wetting and small particle size (1.0-5 microns), although these properties tend to be mutually exclusive.

  • Patent number: 7828132
Abstract: An electric clutch actuator capable of operating in two power loss conditions. For a condition where a normally engaged clutch is disengaged during a system power loss and the desired action is for the clutch to remain in the disengaged positional state, a holding device moves to a power off activated position to prevent movement of an actuator for the clutch. For a condition where the clutch is disengaged during a system power loss and the desired action is for the clutch to move to an engaged positional state, a motor in the electric clutch actuator is used as a generator to convert the potential energy of a clutch pressure spring into electrical energy to provide energy for powering the holding device to remain deactivated, permitting movement of the clutch actuator to the engaged position. Maintaining the holding device deactivated permits the clutch to move to the engaged position and thereby allows vehicle engine braking to be used during a power loss of the system.

  • Patent number: 7818338
Abstract: A service system receives a request for problem resolution knowledge from a service requestor. Upon receiving the request, the service system identifies candidate patterns where each candidate pattern has at least one element that characterizes a problem associated with the corresponding pattern. An iterative process is then repeated between the service requestor and the service system until a stopping criterion is met, which attempts to narrow the field of candidate patterns down until one or more possible root causes of the problem experienced by the service requestor are identified. Alternatively, it may be determined that a possible root cause of the problem is not contained in the candidate patterns or that some other action, event, etc., interrupts the iterative process.

  • Patent number: 7797335
Abstract: File transitions are identified that are to be tracked and at least one element of metadata is generated that characterizes each identified file transition to be tracked. Upon receiving a request for historical transition information, elements of metadata corresponding to at least two instances of a tracked file are aggregated and information is provided responsive to the request that is derived from the aggregated elements of metadata. The action metadata may follow that history of each tracked file as well as the histories of copies of each tracked file over time. Thus, an operator can manage the infrastructure of a corresponding computing environment with knowledge of the current and historical activities of files.

  • Patent number: 7790569
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing semiconductor substrates by bonding. The aim of said method is to reduce the non-usable edge region on the bonded wafer component and to improve the edge geometry of the wafer composite. This is achieved by a method for joining two semiconductor wafers using a semiconductor wafer bonding process. The surfaces of the two semiconductor wafers that are to be bonded are provided with a border or edge geometry that has a special short front-end facet. After the bonding process, one of the two wafers is ablated to obtain an edge region that is as devoid as possible of defects and a usable wafer surface that is as large as possible.
