  • Patent number: 7500699
Abstract: A coupling for joining pipe segments together is disclosed. The coupling is derived from a standard fitting and has a housing with a socket and a first expanded region adjacent to the socket and a second expanded region adjacent to the first expanded region. A sealing member is positioned in the first expanded region, a retainer is positioned in the second expanded region and a support washer having transversely oriented radial and coaxial flanges is positioned adjacent to the retainer. A clamping tab turned inwardly on the second expanded region overlaps the radial flange and clamps the support washer and retainer against a shoulder within the second expanded region thereby also capturing the sealing member within the coupling. The retainer has a plurality of radial teeth angularly oriented to engage a pipe and prevent its removal from the coupling. The teeth are twisted about their longitudinal axes.

  • Patent number: 7484654
Abstract: A container having multiple wall panels forming container sides, the container having at least first and second wall panels that meet at a first corner. The container is assembleable from a flat or knockdown state to an opened or assembled state. A first inner panel is attached to a first wall panel, the first inner panel having an end spaced from the first corner. A slidable corner support is attached to the end of the first inner panel and extends towards the second wall panel. When the container is assembled from the knockdown state, the slidable corner support moves away from the first corner to form a support member that can help support a container stacked on top and prevent nesting.

  • Patent number: 7460130
Abstract: Image acquisition refers to the taking of digital images of multiple views of the object of interest. In the processing step, the constituent images collected in the image acquisition step are selected and further processed to form a multimedia sequence which allows for the interactive view of the object. Furthermore, during the Processing phase, the entire multimedia sequence is compressed and digitally signed to authorize it viewing. In the Storage and Caching Step, the resulting multimedia sequence is sent to a storage servers. In the Transmission and viewing step, a Viewer (individual) may request a particular multi-media sequence, for example, by selecting a particular hyperlink within a browser, which initiates the downloading, checking of authorization to view, decompression and interactive rendering of the multi-media sequence on the end-users terminal, which could be any one of a variety of devices, including a desktop PC, or a hand-held device.

  • Patent number: 7429459
Abstract: A method for identifying compounds that inhibit amyloidal-beta precursor protein processing in cells, comprising contacting a test compound with a GPCR polypeptide, or fragment thereof, and measuring a compound-GPCR property related to the production of amyloidal-beta peptide. Cellular assays of the method measure indicators including second messenger and/or amyloid beta peptide levels. Therapeutic methods, and pharmaceutical compositions including effective amyloidal-beta precursor processing-inhibiting amounts of GPCR expression inhibitors, are useful for treating conditions involving cognitive impairment such as Alzheimers Disease.

  • Patent number: 7429153
Abstract: A cutting element and chamfering tool for pipe preparation is disclosed. The cutting element is formed from a ring having a split defining ends of the ring. One of the ends has a cutting edge. The one end is offset from the other to present the cutting edge to the pipe end. The ring has an inwardly facing angularly oriented surface that receives and centers the pipe end. The chamfer is cut when the ring and pipe end are rotated relatively to one another. The tool has a housing that holds the cutting element. The ends of the ring are offset when the ring engages a helical seat within the housing and/or when a radial set screw engaging the one end is tightened.

  • Patent number: 7421113
Abstract: A system and method for localizing imaging devices in a network using images taken by the imaging devices. The relative position and orientation of a network of camera-equipped communications devices are obtained by having each device examine images taken by its camera. The devices are also equipped with controllable light sources that vary their output in a predetermined manner. This variation is found in images and used to identify the devices in view and to define epipolar points related to the other imaging devices in view. Common reference points in the image are also identified. The imaging devices then exchange details of the epipolar and common reference points with each other, and use them to obtain their relative position and orientation.
