Abstract: An apparatus and method to clean chlorinated hydrocarbon contaminated soils with a bioremediation system is provided. Treatment beds about one-half acre in size are provided with a gravel base on an impervious film layer. A woven polyethylene membrane is laid on the gravel base with a sand layer in between the membrane and the soil layer to be treated. An aqueous treating liquid containing selective microorganisms is sprinkled on the top surface of the soil layer. Exit gases from the bioreactor are released at zero pressure through perforated pipes laid in the base aggregate layer.
Abstract: A beer keg cover constructed of wet or dry fabric and foam composite materials for scuba divers includes a top lid with an elastic edged opening to snap fit over the dispensing pipe of the keg, a circular zipper closure with a hinge attachment for the lid with a vertical slip opening closed by a zipper to open the cylindrical covering. The cover also includes openings aligned with the standard hand grips opening through the top vertical flange of the keg with sealing flaps to reduce heat transfer.
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided using a standard sized and shaped roll-off trash container sealed to contain contaminated soils to be treated with a central lengthwise vacuum tube to draw off vapors through a blower with air intake tubing aligned along the lengthwise side walls to distribute air to the soil mass with valve controls on the intake openings with the container having an openable side to dump the cleansed soil after treatment.
Abstract: A climbing apparatus for domestic cats to be hung in a doorway, in a window or other location including a flexible sheet of film material extending close to the floor hung on hooks wherein the sheet has a multiplicity of openings spaced over a major portion of the flexible sheet with edge sections unperforated to discourage the cat from leaving the apparatus at a height above the floor.
Abstract: A half hinge paint masking cover for doors, and/or door frames is provided as a one piece body molded of a rigid thermoplastic resin. The device includes two molded half cavities each cavity being connected by a thin flexible membrane of the molded material. The first cavity area covers the back surface area of the hinge barrel and has two half end shields each of which cover half the edge area of the hinge barrel and the exposed edge area of the hinge plate. The second cavity half covers the front surface half of the hinge barrel and has two end shields which cover half the edge area of the hinge barrel. A portion connected to the second cavity half includes a long flat area which covers the exposed face side of the hinge plate. The two half cavities are secured to each other by folding along the flexible membrane and engulfing the door or frame half hinge until pins projecting from tops on one half engage and protrude through holes which are located on tabs on the other half.

Abstract: An exercise device and method to exercise the wrist and hand of a person at the work station on a desk surface includes a base with a curved bottom surface with front and rear upper horizontal members, the front with finger rings to receive the ends of the digits of the middle fingers while resting the wrist on the rear horizontal member. Upper sections of the base are separate and are rotatably adjustable to fix a chosen distance between the two upper horizontal members. The device is used by rocking the device frontwardly and backwardly on the curved surface to exercise and flex the wrist in all six directions.
Abstract: A system and method is provided to handle the fluids issuing from a patient's bladder after a prostate operation utilizing continuous bladder irrigation eliminating any antireflux valve system and connecting a ten liter overflow drainage bag of at least ten liters in capacity or a pair of bags directly to the drainage spout of the standard urinary drainage bag providing a closed system with open drainage all the way to the overflow drainage bag.
Abstract: A self-lubricating ocular prosthesis includes a solid rigid prosthetic eye body with a chamber in the body opening through an access passage through the posterior surface of the body closed with a releasable cap having an outside face conforming to the posterior surface of the body which abuts the orbital cavity. The cap is of a semi-rigid or flexible polymeric resin to retain a fluid in the chamber which is dispensed through bore openings from the chamber through the surface of the eye body. Liquid may be inserted directly into the cavity through the bore opening while the prosthesis is in place. The prosthesis may also include a dispensing ball or depressible button to dispense fluid from the prosthesis.
Abstract: A holding device for medication containers of essentially any size or shape provides the patient with the last time the medicine was taken and includes a housing with a cylindrical cup shape opening with a micro switch member extending through an access opening into the cavity form one side of the opening. Individual positioning devices in the form of vertical open cylindrical tubes are sized to fit particular containers with the cylinders positioned proximate the switch member with an opening to allow the switch member to extend into the cylindrical bore opening. A bushing and interlocking tab index the position of each cylindrical tube in the correct position each time the positioning device is inserted into the base section of holding device. The sensor signal that a container is placed in the base is used to provide through numerical display the time the last medication was taken, the elapsed time since that dose and the number of times the medication was accessed in one day.

Abstract: A heart shaped piece of jewelry is provided attachable to a chain. The body of the heart shape is in two parts separated along a jagged simulated broken line with guide members allowing the parts to be separated sliding along the guide members to simulate a break. A spring urges the parts to mate and a cam on the end of a member forces the parts to the separated condition by twisting the member followed by further twisting to close and re-mate the heart shape.
Abstract: An improved safety sheath to cover syringe needles after use is provided including a body with an opening to receive the used needle with a side handle extending normally from the central lengthwise axis of the body a sufficient distance to allow the health workers' fingers to hold the handle and keep them away from the pointed needle when re-sheathing the syringe. The handle may be hinged as an integral molding to snap into permanent position when used or may wrap around the body when packaged.
Abstract: A piece of jewelry having a body with chain engaging means for releasably engaging at least one end of a chain, and a lock for locking the end of the chain in the chain engaging means and for receiving a separate key to unlock the chain engaging means, to permit removal of the end of the chain.
Abstract: A standard corrugated paper pizza box is provided with slit cuts cut through the top panel of the pizza box in a shape to form four circular serving plates with a beveled raised edge and cross slit cuts through the bottom panel of the pizza box separating the box into four essentially equal portions for easy disposal.
Abstract: A hand exerciser treatment device includes a frame with peripheral walls bounding a rectangular panel. Three cylindrical rollers with diameters higher than the peripheral walls span the width of the frame and roll the length of the frame. The end walls are at least one-half of the diameter of the cylindrical rollers and a space block interfits into the frame abutting one end to reduce the rolling distance of the rollers which are rolled back and forth with the palm of the hand and the bottom of the fingers to aid in circulation and flexibility.
