Abstract: In this screening bottom, the screening elements which are mounted on a support structure are provided with an exchangeable and automatically clamped rubber plate acting as a wear-and-tear resistant layer. Beneath the rubber plate, a reinforcing structure is provided consisting of plastic ribs and/or a reinforced structure which is imbedded in a plastic material, as well as clamping elements. The reinforced structure and the clamping elements constitute a unitary grid which is undetachably coupled with the rubber plate. Thereby, it is possible to transfer the advantages from the unit construction assembly technique to screening bottoms with associated screening elements which basically are composed of rubber with a high abrasion resistance characteristic. No complicated and expensive vulcanization molds and devices are required for making the screening elements. The molding tools which are already available for making plastic screening elements can be partially used.

Abstract: The invention relates to a support for retaining a removable dental prosthesis on the remainder of one's natural teeth. In accordance with the invention, a conical pin is mounted on the crown base of a capped tooth. A slotted conical bushing is mounted on a dental prosthesis which bushing is received in a telescopic manner on the pin. The pin and the bushing are so disposed that they are positioned vertically between the capped tooth of the remainder of the natural teeth and the adjacent tooth of the dental prosthesis. The bushing is provided with a spring element which yieldingly engages into recesses of the pin when the bushing and the pin are in total engagement with each other, thus retaining the dental prosthesis in its end position. By a corresponding force application, the yielding snap connection can be easily released, so as to remove the dental prosthesis.
Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are equal or different aliphatic radicals, if desired, branched, and R.sub.3 stands for H or CH.sub.3. The invention also relates to a process for making these compounds and their use as fragrant and flavoring products.
Abstract: An electrical pickup for a stringed musical instrument comprises a cylindrical permanent magnet and a coil surrounding the magnet and wound lengthwise thereof. The ends of the magnet are fixed to two rigid mounting wires, and the coil is wound on a former comprising a central tubular core and two parallel plates fixed to the tube on diametrically opposite sides thereof. The tube, and thus the former and coil as a whole, can turn on the magnet. The magnet is magnetized so that the magnetic poles thereof are positioned at diametrically opposite edges of the magnet, i.e. at the ends of a diameter of the circular cross-section of the magnet cylinder. Thus the former and coil can be turned between two positions 180.degree. apart in order to reverse the winding direction of the coil around the fixed magnetic axis H of the magnet.

Each pile-driving plank is also provided on its inner side with abutments which are arranged in a vertically, supermposed, spaced-apart manner and locking means are provided on the longitudinal girders of the support frame having a locking element which is moveable into and out of the area between two superimposed abutments of an associated pile-driving plank.
Abstract: A transport container which is suitable, in particular, for transport on airplanes, should be lightweight and, in addition, assure an absolute safe insulation of the interior of the container against severe climatic changes. This is particularly important when transporting art articles which otherwise could be damaged. In accordance with the invention, such a transport container is so structured that the walls and the lid consist of a plurality of layer zones which are coordinated with each other with respect to their efficiency characteristics--namely, an inner layer zone consisting of a rigid moisture-storing material, a heat-insulating material layer mounted atop the inner layer zone and covered on both sides with a water-impervious foil, a wide mesh-like grid structure which rests on the heat-insulating material layer and forms a plurality of air chambers and an outer wall of the transport container which covers the grid structure.

Abstract: A retractable load carrier for the cantilever support of loads from the rear of a vehicle, consisting of a pair of spaced-apart, elongated channel supports, disposed from the rear of the vehicle in the direction of travel. Each support consists of a plurality of elongated, hollow, rigid channels which nest one within the other, and are supported on a pair of brackets which are mounted within the rear of the vehicle. The brackets are detachably secured to flanges, which are bolted to the frame of the car. The individual channels can be telescoped outwardly, so that when fully extended, either shear pins or snaps will prevent adjacent channels from becoming disengaged. Lamps can be disposed either on the channels or the channels can be provided inside the vehicle behind each of the taillights, so that the taillights can be pulled out, thereby pulling out the channels.
Abstract: In order to save space, a bathroom appliance such as a lavatory pan, urinal, basin or bidet is mounted to turn about a pivot axis between an operative position in which the appliance is accessible for its normal usage and an inoperative position in which the appliance is retracted into a cavity within or behind the structure, e.g. wall or floor, on which the appliance is pivotally mounted. The revolving covering contains a core which is concentric therewith, and which has a surface of revolution non-parallel to the wall of the covering and which converges progressively towards the same so as to define therebetween an annular conduit that gets gradually narrower towards the major base of the above-mentioned revolving convering, which base forms an annular outlet or discharge socket for the fluid.
Abstract: Competitive current generation by the exploitation of solar energy requires cheap solar cells. A process is described which makes it possible to manufacture from silicon a base material for solar cells of this type in an economical manner and in large quantities. This is achieved by bringing silicon from a supply container into contact with a non-elemental lubricating melt, which is immiscible with silicon but will not wet silicon and has a melting point below that of silicon, and by drawing off a silicon film, sliding on this lubricating melt, and solidifying the silicon continuously by cooling to below its' melting point.
