  • Patent number: 5105054
Abstract: For purposes of protecting electrical installations in airplanes against electromagnetic disturbances and especially against overvoltages as can occur for instance as a consequence of a lightning strike, the electrical lines between the individual electrical devices are laid in flexible profiled tubes consisting of electrically conducting material and are rotatably connected with junction elements arranged on one side. At the same time the tubes are connected by means of these junction elements to charge dissipation points provided at the electrical devices. The lines laid in this manner are arranged in overbraiding of plastic material by way of chafing protection. In another embodiment, the chafing protection is provided by a plastic layer on the inside of the profiled tube. In still another embodiment, the chafing protection is itself a hose fabricated of fiber material.

  • Patent number: 5104533
Abstract: A filtration unit, especially for medical, microbiological, biochemical, immunological or molecular biology specimens. The filtration unit includes a specimen-receiving vessel (12), a filtrate vessel (16) and a filter member (22) containing a filter element (24, 26) arranged between the specimen-receiving vessel and filtrate vessel. In order to obtain an automatic pressure compensation in a closed system the filtrate vessel inner space (28) is connected with the specimen-receiving vessel inner space (30) by at least one pressure compensation channel (50) bypassing the filtration liquid (48). The pressure compensation channel extends axially along a side wall of the specimen-receiving vessel and connects a first discharge point in the filtrate vessel inner space above the maximum filtrate level with a second discharge point in the specimen-receiving vessel inner space above the maximum filtration fluid level while bypassing the filtration unit.

  • Patent number: 5101554
Abstract: In the production of an assembled camshaft slid-on elements, such as control cams, bearing rings, gear wheels or bevel gears, are placed on an axially extending shaft tube. The slid-on elements are secured in place by expanding the shaft tube in the region of the elements by applying internal pressure. In producing the camshaft, a high strength material is used for the slid-on elements and an inferior strength material for the shaft. In the expanding step, an axially extending portion of the shaft tube is plastically deformed and the slid-on element is predominately elastically deformed. After expansion, the outer zone of the slid-on elements are elongated in the tangential direction in the range of 1%.

  • Patent number: 5101948
Abstract: A viscous coupling having a flushing pump for a drive assembly, in which the abrasion particles occurring as a result of friction between the plates are flushed out of the coupling housing. This is achieved by connecting the viscous coupling to a storage and a supply channel, and the flushing pump is driven as a result of relative movement of the two sets of plates in the viscous coupling and ensures that the viscous fluid flushes the interior of the viscous coupling.

  • Patent number: 5098040
Abstract: In a device for the support of a vibration exciting apparatus in a spacecraft subjected to gas pressure under weightlessness or microgravitational conditions, especially an apparatus for physical training of a astronaut, a platform for the fastening of the apparatus is provided. For elimination of possible effects upon micro-g sensitive experiments, the platform's position or attitude in the spacecraft can be positioned so that the spacecraft is decoupled from disturbances. For the attitude control, either an aerodynamic stabilization or an actively regulatable linear structural connection with spring and damper effects is provided wherein the energy for the attitude control is produced from the conversion of mechanical energy of the vibration generating apparatus or the training activity of the astronaut.

  • Patent number: 5098514
Abstract: Heatable or coolable portions of a double band press or a single or multiplaten press have channels for a fluid heat carrier. In these channels, heat is exchanged by convection between the walls of the channels and the heat carrier fluid. Surface enlarging inserts of a material with good heat conducting properties are inserted into the channels in order to improve heat exchange. These surface enlarging inserts have a surface which is fastened to the walls of the channels in order to improve heat exchange. Several elements projecting into the flow of the heat carrier fluid emanate from this surface of the surface enlarging insert. The surface enlarging insert is composed of several identical or different individual parts which are fabricated separately and subsequently inserted into the channels in such a way that they have area contact with the wall of the channels.

  • Patent number: 5097873
Abstract: A gripper loom with at least one filling thread insertion device, including a perforated flexible insertion band, which carries a gripper head at one end and which is advanced into and again retracted from a shed by an alternatingly driven drive wheel. The drive wheel has teeth distributed across the circumference which engage into perforations of the insertion band. Furthermore, a guide member is assigned to the drive wheel near the gripper head so as to prevent the insertion band from lifting off the circumference of the drive wheel, and an end of the band facing away from the gripper head is fastened at a rotary guidance apparatus arranged with respect to the drive wheel so that the band end describes an at least approximate circular guide path during an entire reciprocating motion, the radius of the path being larger than the radius of the drive wheel.

  • Patent number: 5098228
Abstract: A cartridge for securing anchor members in a borehole in a hard receiving material holds separated components of a hardenable mass. The cartridge is formed of an axially extending outer casing enclosing an inner casing forming separate compartments within the outer casing. A first hardenable mass component is contained within the outer casing about the inner casing which holds a second component. In addition, filler material can be included in one of the components. An axially extending jacket of a foam material laterally encloses the outer casing. The jacket fills the space in a borehole between the outer casing and the borehole wall. The outer surface of the jacket has axially extending grooves for the outflow of water when the cartridge and jacket is inserted into a borehole. Further, the jacket serves to temporarily hold the cartridge in a borehole.

  • Patent number: 5097184
Abstract: A battery operated device includes a circuit connecting a DC motor (22) and a battery (9) made up of a plurality of cells (10, 11, 12) connected in series with a two-pole switch device (23) including a first switch (24) and a second switch (25). The DC motor (22) receives a lower battery voltage from an intermediate tap (17) of the battery through a first switch (24) and it receives the full battery voltage through an end tap (15) when the second switch (25) is closed so that the motor can be operated at two speeds. Further, elements are provided for preventing a short circuit between the intermediate tap (17) and the end tap (15) of the battery (9) when the second switch (25) is closed. As a result of this switching arrangement, an extensively interrupted-switching is available, so that practically no power lapses occur when switching over from one speed to the other.

  • Patent number: 5096452
Abstract: In a model airplane having a landing gear 5 provided on a fuselage 1 or wing made as a zinc-alloy die-casting where a bearing member 19 is suspended from a strut 18, it is desirable that the manufacture of an accurately modelled landing gear be simplified. This is achieved in that a landing gear 8 formed with two clasp member arms 10 made of elastically bendable plastic forms the bearing member 19 and at least partially the strut 18 with a tenon 11 being inserted and glued into a cast cavity 12 in the fuselage 1/wing wherein the clasp member 8 bears against the zinc-alloy die-casting with a thickening shoulder 17. The clasp member being a plastic moulding permits a finely engraved realistic appearance of the strut and bearing member while simplifying assembly of the wheel pair and reducing the scrapping rate.
