  • Patent number: 5085067
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for automatically aligning horizontal rolls and vertical rolls in a universal rolling mill stand after the stand has been changed to new types of sections in a rolling mill train. The axial geometric configuration of the vertical rolls in the stand serve as a fixed reference value and the horizontal rolls are displaced radially and axially into roll positions which are measured by actual position indicators and from which the geometric roll gap center and the geometric roll center in the stand are determined. For taking into consideration the spring characteristic constants of the stand, the radial spring characteristic for the two horizontal rolls is determined together, the radial spring characteristic for each vertical roll is determined separately and the axial spring characteristic of one of the horizontal rolls is determined separately in accordance with one of the two axial directions.

  • Patent number: 5083969
Abstract: In a model vehicle having a door assembly attached by a pivot bearing to a body including a door sill delimiting a doorway, it is desirable that the pivot bearing should be situated within the doorway permit easy installation and combine simple construction with strength to withstand rough usage. This object is achieved in that a metallic pivot pin attached to a door sill within the doorway projects with its free end upwardly from the door sill and in that a bearing cavity receiving the pivot pin is formed by the door assembly itself. The pivot bearing provided is of simple construction, easy to install and capable of withstanding stresses other than caused by normal opening and closing of the door.

  • Patent number: 5081880
Abstract: The force-locking connection between a shaft (1) and driving elements (21) attached to it is improved or achieved via a slight plastic expansion of the shaft in that the driving elements are arranged in groups and connected by connecting sleeves (22) produced so as to be integral with the driving elements. The higher degree of elastic expansion is limited to the region of the connecting sleeves so that the driving elements themselves are largely excluded from this process. The dimensional accuracy of the finish-machined driving elements is not adversely affected. If necessary, recesses (27) may be produced to form webs (24) as a result of which the elastic deformation occurring in the inner region (23) is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5082868
Abstract: A method for the preparation of rigid polyurethane and/or polyisocyanurate foams is disclosed. The foams are produced by the reaction of at least difunctional polyisocyanates, a polyol with 3 to 8 hydroxyl groups, said polyol having a hydroxyl number of about 150 to 800, catalysts, blowing agents and foam stabilizers, which are devoid of silicon atoms, as well as, optionally, conventional additives such as flame retardants and chain extenders. The foam stabilizers are copolymers of vinyl monomers and allyl- or methallyl polyoxalkylene ethers. The mole ratio of the monomers is 1:1 to 10:1.The foams thus produced exhibit an improved burning behavior, good surface properties and outstanding thermal insulation effects. The stabilizers increase the solubility of the halocarbon blowing agents in the foaming formulation.

  • Patent number: 5082151
Abstract: In a method for winding round the button stem of a button sewn by a sewing thread to an article of clothing, in which a winding thread made from an elastomeric plastic is wound on under tension onto the thread bundle formed from sewing thread between the button and the article of clothing, in a simpler manner a reliable fixing of the winding thread end is brought about in that the winding thread, following the wrapping of the thread bundle, is drawn off the stem in a direction roughly at right angles to the axis with a tension increased to beyond its yield point, before the separation thereof at the button stem. The thread end extending over several coil turns is firmly fixed between the previously placed coil turn as a result of its diameter greatly reduced by complete elongation. Two embodiments of an apparatus for performing the method are also described and the apparatus is constructed as a compact, esily handleable hand-operated device.
