  • Patent number: 4200279
Abstract: Disclosed herein are devices which are characterized in their ability to isolate a specific lower body muscle and by working against weights through a system of pulleys and cams, provide concentrated development of that specific lower body muscle. The mechanisms described hereinafter include a place to accommodate the machine user, a substantially cylindrical cushioned element oriented for engagement by the users legs, and a cable and gearing network including chain and cam and pulley mechanisms associated with weights the magnitude of which are selectable so that the work done against the weights focuses on a specific lower body muscle depending upon the orientation of the user and additionally provides an orientation of the weights relative to the user such that any sudden release of the load or work being done against the weights can in no way engage and harm the user.

  • Patent number: 4190229
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for forming a plurality of hot dog buns provided with a recessed area formed at the inception of the bun making process, so as to naturally accommodate a hot dog. One technique according to the present invention contemplates cooking the hot dog buns separately from the hot dog and inserting the hot dog at a later time when it is to be consumed, or alternatively inserting the hot dog into the partially cooked bun after the recess has been formed in the bun so that the hot dog and the bun cook simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4177721
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an automatic baster for use with a barbecue rotisserie which can be characterized in that the basting apparatus includes at least one basting dispenser fastened to the meat to be cooked and rotating therewith so that the meat will be given a cyclic periodic quantum of basting material throughout the cooking cycle. The basting apparatus in one preferred form comprises a cylinder having means to mount the cylinder upon the meat and orifices whose dimensions are adjustable to regulate the basting dispensing rate (along with the viscosity of the basting substance) so as to provide accurate control of the quantity of basting material dispensed on the meat.

  • Patent number: 4166222
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for fashioning a wind wheel apparatus that utilizes the wheat field principle in association with a power generating station to provide back pumping in a dam environment to provide a greater efficiency. Specifically, a double array of wind wheels is disposed in a matrix on the horizontal plane oriented to address the angle of attack of the wind regardless of wind direction and is further provided with means to develop electrical current therefrom to be used in motivating pumping means for returning water that has generated electricity due to potential energy back into a reservoir. Thus the wind energy is stored in the reservoir as potential energy. Because of its low cost and abundance this energy is able to address the task of supplying energy to industries or municipalities engaged in processing and pumping of large quantities of ocean water to any desirable elevation.

  • Patent number: 4114208
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a ballcock type flush valve that has all moving parts above the water line of the tank, thereby eliminating corrosion. The valve configuration is such that it is designed to shut-off the flow of water, thereby providing a positive shut-off, and further it is unique in that it has no seat or seal to leak that is below the water line. Fail safe features include a flush mechanism that will remain inoperative until the tank has regenerated its water supply, thereby providing a full flush. Anti-syphon means are included in addition to prevent back flow of bowl water into the water system. The ballcock flush valve combination is so constructed that ingress of additional water due to a faulty seal is impossible thereby conserving water.

  • Patent number: 4098263
Abstract: The following invention relates generally to a solar water heater apparatus adapted for use particularly in housetrailers or mobile homes having curved roof surfaces as well as houses whose top portion also has a contour. Plural twin-storage tanks for water are disposed on these roof tops, and they are suitably dark colored to absorb the sun's radiation. Conduits and valves associated with these storage tanks allow for the transition of heated liquid within the tank to a point remote therefrom for subsequent use, and also include valve and conduit means for replenishing the water contained in the tanks. Preferably a pair of such twin-tanks are installed at the apex of curvature on a roof top, and support members co-act with each of the tanks to provide balance on the apex. The tanks are supported on insulating means, and overlying said tanks and spaced therefrom is an overlying canopy which serves to intensify, magnify, and retain the sun's thermo radiation.

  • Patent number: 4095912
Abstract: A beam connection plate such as would be used to join steel beams to columns or to other structural beams as used in buildings, bridges, and the like. The connection plate consists of a straight steel plate with a groove down its middle and a solid backing. Along both edges there is a close spaced plurality of holes punched or drilled through the plate at even distances. The connecting plate is cut so that it fits along the vertical portion of an I beam, and this portion is stuck inside the groove of the plate. Welding is then done to fasten the vertical portion of the I beam to the connection plate. The punched or drilled holes are used to bolt the connection plate to another beam or column.
