  • Patent number: 4084111
Abstract: A digital-analog converter electrically effecting sequential switching between a reference voltage point and each of the connection points formed in a circuit network composed of serially connected impedance elements for taking out desired analog quantity such as signal voltage level, impedance value or the like in response to the application of control pulses, which comprises in combination memory circuits such as R-S flip-flops, gate circuits such as NAND gates and delay circuit such as integration circuits, capacitors and the likes. The provision of the delay circuits, in particular, advantageously facilitates the setting for the initial operation state and the preparation for the sequential switching.

  • Patent number: 4083254
Abstract: The present accelerometer uses the total light reflection of a prism for suring an acceleration force by disturbing such total reflection in accordance with the displacement or deflection of a body located close to a boundary surface of said prism, and responsive to the movement of an inertia mass which in turn responds to the acceleration force. The reflected light is measured by a photosensitive device and the resulting electrical signal is a direct measure for the size of the acceleration force. In order to make the measuring of the acceleration force independent of variations in the intensity of the light emitted by a light source used as part of the accelerometer, a reference signal may also be produced to form a quotient of the measured signal and the reference signal.

  • Patent number: 4082430
Abstract: In a driving circuit for a liquid crystal display matrix, a source of a direct or low-frequency voltage is connected to drive the selected row and column electrodes, and a high frequency voltage is connected to the driving circuit so that the high frequency potential is effective in combination with the low frequency or direct voltage at non-frequency voltage is effective at the selected crossovers. The high frequency voltage suppresses changes in the optical properties of the liquid crystal at the non-selected crossovers.

  • Patent number: 4081718
Abstract: A discharge lamp lighting device combines one or more discharge lamps and a backswing booster including essentially a power source circuit having a power source connected in series with a ballast and a high voltage generating circuit having an oscillation capacitor and a series circuit of a nonlinear inductor and a switching semiconductor. The supply voltage for the discharge lamp from the power source circuit is established to the extent permissible by the lower limit for sustaining an arc discharge of the lamp so that the terminal voltage of the ballast in the lamp operation is maintained as low as possible. The preferred backswing booster is of small size and an impedance circuit having a capacitor either with or without a bias coil is added to the high voltage generating circuit to produce a momentary high voltage.

  • Patent number: 4079292
Abstract: It is the purpose of the present discharge lamp lighting system to provide reignition energy to a discharge lamp in each half cycle of the a.c. power source. The discharge lamp is connected to a conventional a.c. power source through ballast means and an oscillation booster circuit, which provides an intermittent oscillation output for the reignition operation of the discharge lamp. The operation period of the intermittent oscillation output is so controlled that the reignition operation period is included in each half cycle of the discharge lamp current. The lamp voltage and source voltage are established to agree as much as possible with each other for minimizing the terminal voltage of the ballast means, whereby a compact and economical device with a small inductance ballast means is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4075855
Abstract: A tunnel construction made of tubbings forming a lining or casing for a tunnel includes a plurality of contact points between adjacent tubbings. These contact points comprise adhesive material acting to connect adjacent tubbings to each other at predetermined points. The contact points are distributed around the circumference of the tubbing rings at predetermined locations which depend on the type of the tubbing used and also on the points of pressure application by the driving shield of a tunneling or heading machine. The present tubbings have recesses in their surface facing into the tunnel whereby the recesses have a substantially trapezoidal shape to form three ribs extending substantially in the direction of the longitudinal tunnel axes.

  • Patent number: 4075401
Abstract: A gas-discharging passage for a storage battery is adapted to discharge the gas which is produced inside the storage battery through a cylindrical body. The gas discharging passage is provided directly in the cover of the storage battery, or in the plug for electrolyte hole of the storage battery. A plurality of tongue-like pieces which are molded integrally with the cylindrical body are projected inwardly and inclined downwardly on the inner peripheral wall of the cylindrical body, whose axis is directed vertically. Thus, the passage shape formed inside the cylindrical body is adapted to advantageously prevent electrolyte from remaining inside the cylindrical body and from leaking through the cylindrical body.

  • Patent number: 4074025
Abstract: An indicating device for a storage battery comprising: a bar-like body which is transparent, inserted through and held on the upper wall of the electrolytic vessel of a storage battery, has a pointed lower end and is immersed in the electrolyte in the storage battery; and an indicating member which is disposed in the electrolyte near the lower end of the bar-like body, rotatable around a horizontal axis, has its specific gravity correlated with that of the electrolyte and has its center of buoyancy deviated from the rotative axis thereof so that the indicating member is rotated as it sinks and floats according as the specific gravity of the electrolyte varies, the arrangement being such that when the indicating member is seen through the transparent bar-like body from above the storage battery, the indicating member, for example, selectively moves into and out of a visible range so that the manner of indication is changed according to the specific gravity of the electrolyte.

  • Patent number: 4073452
Abstract: The pressure drop in a pressurized cabin, for example, in an aircraft cab is delayed following the occurrence of an emergency resulting from a door failure, by a mat which has a low air permeability. Such a mat is mechanically secured to the cabin structure to cover the openings in the cabin or body on the inside thereof, for example, to cover a door opening in flight. The air permeability of these mats is such that a pressure equalization is delayed by a time safe enough for humans, whereby the pressure equalization rate does not exceed approximately 2.4 PSI/sec.

  • Patent number: 4071120
Abstract: A cam actuated brake adjuster reduces automatically the clearance between the brake lining and the brake drum which exists when the brakes are released, if this clearance exceeds a predetermined value. A one-way drive mechanism which adjusts the angular position of a camshaft with the aid of a worm gear is actuated by an adjusting rod assembly, which yields to a given adjusting force corresponding to a given brake force, to prevent an excessive adjustment which might result from a drum distortion caused by the application of a great braking force.

  • Patent number: 4066151
Abstract: A rolling container assembly has a braking and locking system including a pair of locking levers on shafts positioned to engage opposite sides of a fixed anchor. The locking levers are releasable by separate control levers. Braking spikes are arranged on a pair of further shafts, and are inclined downwardly from their respective shafts and toward the center of the container. Lost motion rods intercouple the locking lever with the braking spikes, so that the braking spikes may be rotated to vertical positions independently of the respective locking levers. The shafts through which the braking spikes are connected are also coupled by a lever, whereby the braking spikes simultaneously rotate in opposite senses.
