Abstract: A soft, conformable, conductive composition comprises a polymeric binder system; a purality of insoluble, soft, spherical, deformable, generally nonreactive domains dispersed in the system interjacent the domains, held in the matrix thereof, such that at least one electrically conductive pathway is formed through said composition. The conformable, conductive composition has many applications where a moldable, pliable, adherent conductive juncture or interface is desired.

Abstract: Method of monitoring and indicating the concentration of vapor components at a phase interface comprising sampling vapor at the vapor source phase interface, comparing the vapor concentration in the sample with a standard, and indicating the concentration of the vapor relative to the standard. A monitoring device is disclosed which comprises a sensing means and means for responsively coupling the sensing means to the vapor source phase to be monitored so that a representative vapor sample is presented to the sensing means. The method and device disclosed herein can be advantageously used to monitor volatile components, especially moisture, available to potted plants.

Abstract: Soundboards for stringed musical instruments comprising radially/circumferentially anisotropic sheets. The soundboards may be constructed of wooden wedges arranged so that the wood grain radiates from the focal point of the sheet. The soundboards preferably have at least a partially rounded periphery. Stringed instruments containing the novel soundboards are disclosed wherein the strings are coupled to the soundboards through a bridge located near the focal point of the soundboard.
Abstract: An extraction apparatus for removing polonium-210 from irradiated bismuth by a pyrochemical extraction process comprises a melting chamber suitable for melting irradiated bismuth, a reservoir for melted bismuth, an extraction chamber suitable for holding molten caustic and having means for circulating molten bismuth from the reservoir through the extraction chamber whereby said bismuth can be repeatedly cycled in counter flow through the molten caustic and the polonium-210 is removed from the irradiated bismuth.

Abstract: Articles for providing sustained release of water-soluble components. The articles comprise agglomerate particles comprising an organophobic water-soluble nucleus particle surrounded by smaller, clinging organophilic particles. The agglomerate particles are bound into a coherent mass, such as a tablet, by an organic, water-insoluble binder. The release characteristics of the articles can be selectively controlled by controlling the type and relative amount of the organophilic particles employed. The articles can be made by dry-blending the solid ingredients and forming and fusing the blended mass.
