Abstract: A spot welding electrode includes a plurality of alternating, co-axially first and second sections, the first sections having a first predetermined sized cross section. Each first section has an undercut portion tangential to the second section which defines a shear line. The second sections have a second predetermined sized cross section smaller than the cross section of the first sections. The outer sides of the second sections form undercut areas between the outer sides of adjacent first sections. The outer sides of the second sections act as cleavage surfaces which remove excess material formed at the peripheral edges of the adjoining first sections caused by successive deformation of the first sections during repeated welding operations.
Abstract: An apparatus of the type for the supply of webs to a processing station is described, in which by means of a controllable drive mechanism, each of several webs is advanced to the processing station in superimposed guide channels. The front portion of the web, following processing, is cut from the web and the front end of the web, following separation, is retracted out of the processing station. For this purpose, the controllable drive mechanism can be selectively engaged with one web in the vicinity of the guide channel of the web for the complete forward and return transport of the web before and after a processing operation. The drive mechanism preferably has reversibly drivable rollers. For producing an engagement between a web and a drive roller the guide channels are preferably pivotable with respect to the rollers. The processing station is generally a printing means, in which, for example tickets of differing color are to be printed.

The training device comprises a convex mirror in a shockproof case having attachment means for securing the training device to the board surface. The mirror casing may be angled, or unequal length legs may be provided, so that the attached convex mirror is inclined towards the rider's normal board riding position to provide a full reflection thereof. Dividing lines are provided on the mirror surface as reference points for the posture of the athlete. In an alternative embodiment the mirrored device is built into the ridden-board-type device.
Abstract: A closed, cross-flow fluid filter assembly having a pressurized input line for polluted fluids entering into a closed header box. The closed header box fits within a filter tank and is provided with apertures and spacer assemblies on the bottom wall thereof communicating with the filter tank, the apertures providing the pressurized fluid thereto. Filter leaf assemblies are arranged in parallel within the filter tank and are maintained at their top edges in spaced relation by the spacer assemblies. The filter leaf assemblies are composed of abutting offset grids, contained within a fluid tight frame which is covered on each side by a filter media. The filter leafs are drained of filtrate through a medial tube connected to a central manifold which is connected to a vacuum source. Flow-through backwash stop-grids are arranged in the filter tank to prevent excessive bulging of the filter membranes during backwash for cleaning of the filter media.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing fiber preforms includes a relatively small motor which is able to power a large fan because the fan is kept in a partial vacuum condition. A duct connects a fan housing to a vacuum box which has an air flow opening therein of relatively narrow width. A shuttle member is horizontally translatable above the vacuum box on a support bed and the shuttle member is divided into air flow channels by baffle plates. Only a small number of air flow channels can pass above the air flow opening at a single time and this serves to keep low pressure in the vacuum box. In addition, a vortex gate is provided in the duct between the fan housing and the vacuum box and serves to restrict air flow through the duct when the pressure within the duct drops below a certain level.
Abstract: The needle guard protects medical personnel from accidental punctures associated with a surgical needle. The needle guard apparatus comprises two members, and a retainer. The surgical needle is securely retained between the two members when the retainer is in the engaged position. Preferably, when the retainer is in the engaged position, the surgical needle can only be removed from the needle guard by disengaging the retainer. After the sewing operation has been completed, the surgical needle and part of the suture extend outside of the two pieces of tissue. The surgical needle is then positioned within the needle guard, and the needle guard are securely engaged about the surgical needle. The portion of the suture extending between the needle guard and the tissue is used for knotting. The portion of the suture extending between the knot and the needle guard is cut, and the needle guard with the encased surgical needle is discarded of.
Abstract: The locking device may either be used with a conventional liftgate support or incorporated into the design of the liftgate support, to retain a hatchback-type door of a vehicle in an open position. The locking device of the present invention is for use with a liftgate support to retain a hatchback-type door in an open position even in cold weather or after the liftgate support has worn out. The liftgate support includes a housing cylinder and an elongated piston rod. The elongated piston rod is slidably positionable relative to the housing cylinder, one end of the elongated piston rod being received within the housing cylinder. The locking device is secured to the housing cylinder by two-sided tape proximate to where the elongated piston rod is received by the housing cylinder.
Abstract: The invention is a handling apparatus for a truck, to be mounted on a truck chassis. A jib is connected to a rigid arm, a crank arm and a disengaged frame, to form the apparatus. The arms can be locked into position by a releasable locking mechanism. Three jacks are positioned in series to manipulate the jib, rigid arm, crank arm and disengaged frame. The handling apparatus is releasably secured on the truck chassis by a second releasable locking mechanism. A load can be lifted to the vertical, horizontal and dumping positions by changing the positions of the crank arm, rigid arm and jib arm.
Abstract: A method of lining an exhaust manifold is disclosed, comprising the steps of applying a thin layer of a heat-resistant compound to the interior of an exhaust manifold and bonding the compound to the manifold. The manifold may be in two or more sections when the compound is applied and the sections may subsequently be joined together to form the manifold. The compound may contain zirconium and/or may be a ceramic material.
Abstract: A skin treatment composition suitable for topical application containing:an organic carrier medium consisting of olive oil, butter and honey;an adsorptive agent, cornstarch, present in a ratio of about 0.25 to about 1 part adsorptive agent to about 1 part carrier medium;sodium acid pyrophosphate present in a ratio of between about 0.001 and about 0.1 part sodium acid pyrophosphate to about 1 part carrier medium; anddistilled water present in a ratio of about 0.001 to about 1 part water to about 1 part medium.
Abstract: A method lining a component of a vehicle which may contact exhaust gases is disclosed, including the steps of applying a thin layer of a heat-resistant compound to an inner surface of the component to form a liner therein and bonding the liner to the surface. The manifold may be in two or more sections when the compound is applied and the sections may subsequently be joined together to form the component. The compound may contain zirconium and/or may be a ceramic material.
Abstract: A flexible retainer which may be used to attach papers and the like to a wall, bulletin board, etc. includes a body formed from flexible material with a spacer section and at least two finger grips extending outwardly away from the spacer section, and at least two pins extending from the body away from the finger grips, the pins normally disposed in a non-parallel configuration so as to define an angle therebetween. The body is deformable to temporarily align the pins in a substantially parallel configuration for insertion thereof into a wall or other surface.
Abstract: A self-contained light source for attachment to a Hertel-type exophthalmometer. The device requires no structural alteration of the exophthalmometer and allows for variable positioning of the light source on the exophthalmometer. The device is designed to provide the exophthalmometer with hands free illumination of the eye area and the measuring scale to allow the operator use of both hands when measuring exophthalmus.

Abstract: A sealable funnel assembly is disclosed which comprises a funnel body with a stem portion and cup portion, the stem portion having a hollow bore formed therethrough. A core member is coaxially disposed within the funnel body and includes an upper handle portion and an enlarged lower sealing portion which fits sealingly inside the bore to temporarily prevent fluid flow through the funnel assembly. Motion of the handle portion of the core member upwardly or downwardly serves to either seal off the funnel assembly from fluid flow therethrough or to allow fluid flow through funnel assembly. The cup portion may have indicia inscribed thereon to aid in using the apparatus as a measuring device.
