  • Patent number: 7973662
Abstract: A package for at least two objects includes RFID bridge antennas, having RF antenna elements, for wirelessly communicating data between a tag associated with each object and a reader. An electromagnetic carrier signal transmitted by the reader antenna is received by one of the RF antenna elements and retransmitted to the tag antenna by the other RF antenna element, increasing the distance over which the tag can communicate with the reader. Where the tag is attached to a packaged object, the RFID bridge antenna may be included in the package to allow wireless data communication between the tag and a reader. The reader may also be located external to the package. For example, one of the RF antenna elements may be attached to a label on the package, allowing data stored in the tag to be extracted by the external reader.

  • Patent number: 7959270
Abstract: A method is provided for supplying marking material. A package containing the marking material and having an information-bearing tag is fed into a housing of a printing machine along a path including a package inlet. The tag is read to verify the marking material contained in the package. The package is then opened at least partially within the housing to expel the marking material from the package. Objects being marked move relative to the printing machine along a different path not including the package inlet. A method also is provided for verifying the contents of a collapsible marking material package. The package is fed into the housing of the printing machine, and an information-bearing tag on the package is read. If incorrect material has been inserted, the package then is rejected and ejected from the housing before it has been collapsed.

Abstract: A package to encase a semiconductor package is manufactured by the following steps. First, an electrically conductive frame is provided. This frame has a plurality of leadframes arranged in a matrix with each leadframe having a plurality of spaced leads extending outwardly from a central aperture. The electrically conductive frame further includes a plurality of connecting bars joining outer end portions of adjacent ones of the leadframes. Second, a groove is formed in the connecting bars to form a reduced thickness portion between the outer end portions of adjacent ones of the leadframes. Third, a semiconductor device is electrically coupled to inner portions of said leads. Fourth, the frame and the semiconductor devices are encapsulated in a molding compound. Finally, the molding compound and the frame are cut along the grooves to form singulated semiconductor packages having outer lead portions with a height greater than the height of the reduced thickness portion.

  • Patent number: 7917376
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for facilitating management of health care in medical facilities such as hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms, etc., for example by monitoring and assessing the quality of patient care. Data is collected and operated on relating to medical conditions, treatment, cost, care, events, outcomes and results of treatments, and data representing the collective experience of similar patients is mined to discover opportunities to improve the quality of health care. Statistical and comparative data and reports including such and other information indicate a quality of care and provide epidemiologically cogent information. Quality of care may be considered as achieving desired or expected norms of performance, including success, in a timely fashion, and can be judged not just by what functionally happens during a patient instigated encounter, but also by long term outcomes evidenced by the patient's passage through the health care delivery system.
