    Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and process useful for the biological transformation of waste materials into ecologically desirable materials. A meta system reactor is disclosed comprising three primary zones which are cyclically and dynamically connected by a circulating fluid. In the process of the invention, each of a bioreactor zone, solids ecoreactor zone and georeactor zone further comprise secondary subsystems and are cyclically connected by a series of recycle flows and organism movements to bioconvert the contained materials. The converted materials produced can be desirable and ecologically beneficial end products comprising gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor; a biologically active and highly beneficial humus material; and clean water which may be passed through a final wetlands polishing and biomonitoring system before discharge into a natural receiving water.

    Abstract: A radiopharmaceutical chemical compound comprising a radioactive isotope, other than an isotope of iodine, in chemical combination with at least one amine group. The compound has a lipophilicity sufficiently high at a pH of 7.6 to permit passage of the compound from the blood of a mammal into a target organ or tissue and sufficiently low at a pH of 6.6 to prevent rapid return of the compound from the target organ or tissue to the blood. The compound has a percent protein binding of less than ninety percent.A method for selectively depositing a radiopharmaceutical compound in at least one target tissue or organ of a mammal, which tissue or organ has a significantly different intracellular pH than the blood of the mammal, by introducing the compound of the invention into the bloodstream of the mammal.

In accordance with the invention, the known acidic liquid smokes which are formed by contacting burning wood smoke with water are neutralized with an alkaline material to form a precipitate and the addition of alkaline material is continued until at least a portion of the precipitate returns to solution. The alkaline smoke solutions are suitable for impregnating regenerated cellulose sausage casings such that during cooking the meat is colored. The invention solutions form a casing that is storage stable after impregnation.

    Abstract: This relates to the filling and forming of food product units such as sausage links, wherein a flowable fill is introduced into a shirred casing through a conventional filling head and wherein a controlled underfilling of the preselected circular cross section casing is automatically maintained by modifying the cross section of the casing from circular to oval. In this manner the required underfilling of the casing is automatically effected so that the necessary space for the product fill is automatically supplied to permit the necessary crimping and twisting of the casing to define links of uniform size and weight or other changes in volume due to processing.     Abstract: A method of removing hydrogen fluoride from gaseous mixtures of hydrogen fluoride and hydrogen chloride, which contain up to about 5 percent by weight of hydrogen fluoride, is described. The method comprises initially contacting the gaseous mixture with a particulate, substantially anhydrous, bed of alkaline earth metal chloride material, for example, calcium chloride, to produce an effluent gas mixture having a substantially reduced hydrogen fluoride content. The effluent gas is then contacted with a secondary treatment bed of particulate, substantially anhydrous, alkaline earth metal chloride material, for example, calcium chloride, to produce a product gas containing less than 20 ppm of hydrogen fluoride. The temperature of the secondary treatment bed is maintained in the range from about -20.degree. to about +20.degree. C., and, more preferably, in the range from about 0.degree. to about 5.degree. C.

C., the column also having a countercurrent flow of a liquid and a gas,B. withdrawing liquid HF from the bottom of the rectification column,C. withdrawing a gas from the top of the rectification column, and feeding the thus withdrawn gas to a condenser,D. condensing at least a portion of the withdrawn gas of step C to a liquid,E. feeding a portion of the condensed liquid of step D to the upper part of the rectification column, andF. recovering HCl gas from the condenser.
