  • Patent number: 4578889
Abstract: A method for locating and catching fish in which a pH measuring device is lowered from the surface of a body of water constituting a fish habitat. During the lowering of the device, the depth at which the device is located is measured periodically, and the pH of the water at the several measured depths is determined. The several measured depths and the corresponding pH values are compared to determine the rate of change of pH per unit of depth. One or more discrete intervals of depth of the water over which the greatest rates of change of pH occur are identified. Upon completion of the lowering, the pH measuring device is removed from the water. A fish catching device is lowered in the water to a point located from about one to eight feet above a depth interval at which a marked increase in the rate of change of pH in the water has been identified as occurring.

  • Patent number: 4578528
Abstract: An electrical outlet box optionally having in combination therewith, a connector fitting for connecting a corrugated conduit to the box, the box having a back wall and at least one side wall of synthetic resin. A pressure removable plug is displaced out of the plane of the side wall so as to provide a precisely delineated zone of weakness surrounding the plug. When one preferred type of connector fitting is used in combination with the box, a wedge-shaped end portion of the fitting, having a relatively small surface area, is manually pressed against the pressure removable plug along a pressure zone immediately radially inwardly from the zone of weakness. This pops the plug out of the wall of the box, leaving a neat, smooth hole into which the connector fitting may be inserted by continued manual pressure applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 4537031
Abstract: Improved power cycles for improving the production of power and refrigeration and for conserving thermal energy, utilizing as a common basic characteristic, a hydride-dehydride-hydrogen power cycle in which hydrogen is reversibly combined with a hydride-forming material at a relatively low temperature and pressure, the hydrided material is then heated at constant volume to chemically compress the hydrogen, and finally the material is dehydrided by further heating the material to release hydrogen gas at relatively high pressure and temperature. The pressurized high temperature hydrogen gas as thus developed is used in various ways for producing power and refrigeration, including functioning as a low temperature heat sink for certain auxiliary or ancillary power cycles, prior to recycling the hydrogen gas for reuse in the described hydride-dehydride-hydrogen cycle.

  • Patent number: 4495970
Abstract: A synthetic resin pipe which includes two identical complementary, extruded semi-cylinders joined by electromagnetic bonding along abutting longitudinal edges to form a smooth walled cylindrical pipe. In one embodiment of the invention, the smooth walled pipe forms an internal sleeve or liner within an external corrugated pipe having contiguous circumferential corrugations over its length, and having the troughs of the corrugations bonded to the outer surface of the internal sleeve. In the method for forming the pipe, two identical flat plastic sheets are extruded, then vacuumed formed into semi-cylinders each having radially outwardly projecting longitudinal flanges extending from opposite side edges thereof. A paste or dispersion containing ferro-magnetic particles is then applied to the flanges on the sides thereof adjacent the concavity of the respective semi-cylinder. The semi-cylinders are next arranged in registry to form a cylinder with the flanges abutting.
