  • Patent number: 4283980
Abstract: Apparatus for sawing which can be used either in portable, manually operated form, or as a stationary bench-mounted sawing device for sawing through a workpiece along predetermined angles of cut. The apparatus comprises a portable chain saw which includes a prime mover secured to one side of a flat mounting plate. A saw blade guide plate projects from the prime mover through a slot provided in the mounting plate, and in a plane substantially normal to the plane of the mounting plate. A saw blade is extended around, and guided by, the guide plate, and is protected by guard means pivotally mounted on the mounting plate. A cradle frame structure releasably receives and clamps the mounting plate in a table sawing position when the chain saw is to be so used. • Patent number: 4274468
Abstract: A triple-sash double-hung storm window assembly which includes a flanged, multiple channeled extrusion of generally rectangular overall configuration. The primary window or first sash of the assembly is the conventional double-hung window built into the house, and the flange of the multi-channeled extrusion is secured to a framing element which surrounds the conventional window at its outer side. The extrusion defines two staggered or offset compound channels forming an intermediate sash and an outer sash. The compound channel which defines the outer sash is peripherally inset from the compound channel defining the intermediate sash so that window and screen elements mounted in the outer sash can be mounted and demounted from the interior of the house, first through the intermediate sash and then through the conventional double-hung window.

  • Patent number: 4272942
Abstract: A method of sealing building openings, such as windows or the like, which comprises initially bonding a strip of ferro-magnetic or magnetic material to the structure which defines the opening in a course around the periphery of the opening. A strip of material which is magnetically attracted to the first-mentioned strip is then bonded to a closure panel in a course position to register with said first-mentioned course. Finally, the closure panel is positioned across the opening with the two strips of material superimposed, in registry and in contact to magnetically retain the closure panel in a pre-selected position in relation to the opening. The apparatus used in carrying out the invention comprises at least two elongated strips of magnetic material having a strip of bonding material on one side thereof, at least two additional strips of material magnetically attractable to the first strips, a panel and adhesive bonding the additional strips to the panel at spaced locations on the panel.

  • Patent number: 4270911
Abstract: A method and system for producing elongated Z-fold copy paper having indicia emplaced thereon by xerographic reproduction. The method entails initially transversely scoring and folding an elongated sheet of paper at spaced intervals therealong with alternate adjacent score-fold lines being originated by pressures exerted on respectively opposite sides of the paper. The elongated scored sheet is then rolled up in a cylindrical roll, and is fed from this roll to a copying machine into close proximity to a rotating xerographic copying drum within the machine. After emplacement of indicia on the paper in the reproduction process, the paper may then be rolled up on a storage roll or Z-folded manually or by suitable apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4265311
Abstract: A fracturing fluid composition consisting essentially of a viscous aqueous solution having a high concentration of cations, an anionic or nonionic viscosifier imparting a high viscosity to the composition, and an anionic, polymeric fluid loss material which is substantially insoluble in the aqueous solution, and is soluble in fresh water substantially free of the cations in the fracturing fluid. In the method of fracturing using the fracturing fluid compositions of the invention, the composition is injected into the fracture via the well bore to enlarge and/or extend the fracture. Completion of fracturing is followed by injection of fresh water into the fracture from the well bore to dissolve the anionic, polymeric fluid loss material, and displace the fracturing fluid composition into the formation upon continuation of a water flood operation.

  • Patent number: 4258600
Abstract: A variable utility chain saw apparatus which includes a mounting frame, a mounting plate removably carried in the mounting frame and a portable chain saw secured to one side of the mounting plate and including a saw blade guide plate which projects through a slot in the mounting plate and supports and guides a flexible saw blade. A chain saw guard subassembly is pivotally connected to the mounting plate to protectively shield the saw blade without interfering with the sawing function of the blade. A supporting assembly adapted for securement to a cylindrical structure is detachably fastened to a support flange which is secured to, and projects from, the mounting frame. The supporting assembly can take several forms to facilitate usage of the saw apparatus for accomplishing several precision sawing functions in the field or at a workbench, all in addition to the customary manual usages of a conventional portable chain saw.
