  • Patent number: 6431070
Abstract: An electrical connector device for use with a pyrotechnic ignition apparatus having a magazine for igniting a plurality of devices in an array in an ignition sequence includes a plastic tube mounted in a metal cap casing to which first and second electrically isolated terminals are attached, the terminals being located in the tube chamber and extending to the casing exterior. A wire is connected to each terminal at one wire end and to a terminal attached to a plastic end cap at an end of the plastic tube opposite the metal casing. The end cap is attached to a further tube mounted telescopically inside the plastic tube. A connector is attached to the end cap terminals. The connector device is of generally the same construction at its casing terminals as the pyrotechnic devices so as to be placed in the magazine in place of a pyrotechnic device and responsive to a generated ignition signal. A remote pyrotechnic device is attached by a cable to the end cap connector.

  • Patent number: 6422034
Abstract: An aerodynamic shaped deflector is attached to the roof of a truck cab for reducing drag between the cab and the larger rearward cargo body. The deflector has a front wall with an internal air scoop for channeling air to a refrigeration unit attached to the front wall of the cargo body. The scoop channels air to the refrigeration unit through an opening and grill at the rear of the scoop. The deflector may have an opening in a top wall thereof to permit escape of hot air from the refrigeration unit to the ambient atmosphere. The scoop and its grill at the rear thereof with openings are dimensioned to pass sufficient air required by the refrigeration unit heat exchange coils.

  • Patent number: 6422372
Abstract: A track assembly comprises an inner channel member, an outer channel member and a top plate, through which load bearing rollers selectively protrude An inflatable air bag is between the inner and outer channels for raising and lowering the inner channel. The rollers are attached to the inner channel and are raised and lowered to a recessed state as the air bag raises and lowers the inner channel. An air line fitting at one air bag end passes through the outer channel member side wall to fix the air bag end longitudinally in place. The other end is clamped by two plates sandwiching the air bag end therebetween. One of the clamp plates has two opposing tabs extending therefrom and which engage mating slots in the side walls of the outer channel. As the bag inflates and deflates, the clamp tabs permit the air bag end to ride up and down vertically wherein the tabs ride up and down in the slots. This keeps the bag end longitudinally in place without adding additional fixation components.

  • Patent number: 6407666
Abstract: An electrical connector is for use with a cylindrical member having an electrically conductive coating which can be damaged. The connector comprises a steel stamped ring with a terminal extending from the ring. Three like contacts overly the central opening of the ring and are bent for abutting the received cylindrical member in resilient sliding ohmic engagement regardless of the insertion or withdrawal direction of the member without destructive damage to the member coating. The contacts are relatively stiff to provide vibration resistant engagement with the member. The ring is supported in a slot in a housing to further stiffen the connector and the contact engagement with the member which completes a circuit which if broken is sensed and transmitted as a tampered condition.

  • Patent number: 6405932
Abstract: A retrofit automatic temperature controlling apparatus and kit is attached to a prior art steam-cold water mixing valve assembly to produce mixed cold water and steam as hot water at a controlled temperature. An adjustment screw is added to the prior art valve assembly to limit the displacement of a steam poppet valve which is opened by a retrofitted piston. Cold water is redirected to a retrofit temperature control assembly having a mixing chamber for receiving the cold water. A water and steam receiving conduit terminates in the mixing chamber and has fluid isolated sections for receiving steam and cold water with a sleeve valve member for selectively coupling the steam and cold water sections to the mixing chamber. The sleeve valve member is operated by a temperature sensing device in the outlet hot water chamber. A disc member separates the mixing chamber and outlet hot water chamber with small passages which promote mixing.

  • Patent number: 6402084
Abstract: A plurality of core mounting outer ring members are each rotationally slidably mounted on a corresponding inner ring member having cam surfaces in the outer surface. A rotating drive shaft has radial pistons and rotates the inner ring member by frictional engagement of the pistons displaced by an inflatable bladder. The outer ring member has a first annular array of bores with core gripping balls resiliently urged radially outwardly to grip a core receiving a winding strip thereabout. A second array of bores in the outer member receive larger core gripping balls which freely displace in the bores. Ramp camming grooves are in the outer surface of the inner ring members, the larger gripping balls engaged with the grooves and forced into gripping engagement with the received core when the inner ring member is rotated. The spring loaded balls provide initial friction load between the core and outer ring members so that the ramp balls can operate to grip the core upon rotation of the inner ring member.

  • Patent number: 6397840
Abstract: A dry powder, for example, a medicament for an inhaler, comprises elongated particles with an aspect ratio sufficient to cause the particles to be bound to a preferably metal or non-metallic sheet material substrate at the particle tips by electrostatic deposition and for aligning a plurality of particles with their major axes aligned normal to the, substrate and oriented tip-to-tip. Particles deposited form a low density, high relative void deposition to minimize attractive forces between the particles. This minimizes agglomeration and bonding forces to the substrate facilitating the release of a powdered medicament in an inhaler. Medicament dosages in a substrate pocket are covered by a sealing layer. An embodiment of a drug dosage inhaler substrate and inhaler is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6390519
Abstract: A housing has a rotor receiving chamber with filament receiving bores lying in a plane normal to the rotor axis of rotation, a rotor being rotatably received in the chamber. The rotor and housing have complementary locking shoulders for axially locking the rotor in the chamber. The rotor has a pair of filament receiving bores aligned with the housing filament receiving bores. The rotor has an annular rib in the plane of the bores defining upper and lower rotor sections. The locking shoulders are in the lower section of the rotor and are located between the plane and the closed end of the chamber, at which end the rotor and housing have a complementary ratchet and pawl mechanism for allowing only one way rotation of the rotor relative to the housing for securing the filament to the rotor.

  • Patent number: 6382385
Abstract: A track assembly comprises an inner channel member and an outer channel member, the outer channel member having opposing flanges with a conduit for receiving an air line for operating the assembly. An inflatable air bag is between the inner and outer channel members for raising and lowering the air bag. Rollers attached to the inner channel member are raised and lowered as the air bag raises and lowers the inner channel member. The air line, which is flexible and compressible, for operating the air bag, is releasably attached externally the channel members in and protected by the conduit by opposing spaced ribs. The air line is squeezed between the ribs during insertion into the conduit.
