  • Patent number: 5253512
Abstract: The invention relates to a moisture meter tester for granular or powdered products including a cell for the product to be analyzed and a means of indirect measurement of the moisture connected to a unit for processing the measurements, the cell being adapted to be filled with and successively emptied of the product. The moisture meter of the invention is notable in that a hygrometric sensor is arranged so as to be capable of being in contact with the air surrounding the product to be analyzed, and that the sensor is connected to the measurement processing unit in order to make corrections to the values for the apparent moisture measured by the indirect measurement means. The invention also relates to a method using such a moisture tester.

  • Patent number: 5252952
Abstract: A cursor control device moves from a precise zero rest position to define x-y coordinates for moving a cursor on a computer screen. When an actuating force is removed, the deflected control device is precisely returned to its zero rest position by operation of springs. The device provides relative cursor position data by reference to the zero rest position. The position data is converted to electrical signals which are utilized to position the cursor on the screen.

  • Patent number: 5250412
Abstract: A swab device, method, and kit for collecting and analyzing a sample for an analyte (antigens or antibodies) on the swab. The device includes a narrow rod or stick-like support in combination with an assay medium which is positioned adjacent to the support. The assay medium is extended longitudinally down the support a length sufficient to permit an immunoassay to be carried out within it. The assay medium and the support may include a capillary medium. A collection medium may also be attached to the capillary medium to enhance sample collection. The method includes collecting a sample suspected of containing the analyte in a sample collection area at the end of the swab. A liquid containing a labelled component is applied to the swab and allowed to immunochemically react with the sample. If the analyte is present, an immunocomplex is formed and retained on the swab. A wash solution is subsequently applied to the swab to effect the separation of the immunocomplex from excess free label.

  • Patent number: 5248135
Abstract: Folded printed products, held at the fold thereof by clamps, are fed to an opening device. This opening device comprises grippers, each gripper having a stationary gripper jaw and a movable gripper jaw which delimit a slide gap in the closed position of the movable gripper jaw. Along this slide gap there is displaceable a pusher member for the purpose of pushing out of the slide gap the printed product gripped at its open-edge region by the respective gripper. The pusher member thereby acts upon a marginal lap of a first product portion which protrudes beyond the other or second product portion. By virtue of the pre-bending of the printed products, the second product portion is entrained during pushing action at the first product portion and, as a beneficial result of such bending, lifts off from the first product portion upon leaving the slide gap, the marginal lap of the first product portion still being guided in the slide gap.
