Abstract: The invention relates to a moisture meter tester for granular or powdered products including a cell for the product to be analyzed and a means of indirect measurement of the moisture connected to a unit for processing the measurements, the cell being adapted to be filled with and successively emptied of the product. The moisture meter of the invention is notable in that a hygrometric sensor is arranged so as to be capable of being in contact with the air surrounding the product to be analyzed, and that the sensor is connected to the measurement processing unit in order to make corrections to the values for the apparent moisture measured by the indirect measurement means. The invention also relates to a method using such a moisture tester.
Abstract: A cursor control device moves from a precise zero rest position to define x-y coordinates for moving a cursor on a computer screen. When an actuating force is removed, the deflected control device is precisely returned to its zero rest position by operation of springs. The device provides relative cursor position data by reference to the zero rest position. The position data is converted to electrical signals which are utilized to position the cursor on the screen.
Abstract: A workpiece guide device on a sewing machine serves for the automatically controlled alignment of a workpiece, with respect to its edge, for the purpose of sewing along the edge of the workpiece at the correct distance from that edge. The circumferential side of a motor-driven guide wheel (36) carries wheels (34) which are likewise motor-driven and which guide the workpiece transversely to the direction prescribed by the guide wheel (36).

Abstract: A camera having a pentagonal prism including a flash light emitting portion above the pentagonal prism and a driving force generator for generating a driving force to move the flash light emitting portion located beside the pentagonal prism. The driving force is transmitted to the flash light emitting portion by driving force transmitting means for moving the flash light emitting portion to change flash coverage.
Abstract: A machine for conditioning filled and sealed bags for testing, to assure that the bags are accurately tested without damaging the product contained in the bags, and for packaging the bags that have passed the test in cartons with the longitudinal axis of the bags arranged vertical.
Abstract: A plier has first and second handle portions. The first handle portion has a tool receiving channel which extends from a rear end thereof to receive a tool bit therein. The second handle portion has an elongated groove to receive a blade carrier. The blade carrier has a plurality of cutting devices mounted thereon and engaging pieces to retain the blade carrier in the elongated groove when the blade carrier is press-fitted in the elongated groove.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus according to the present invention is provided with a developing unit which develops an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrostatic latent image holding body.
Abstract: A copying machine capable of color copying includes a filter apparatus for color-separating scanning light for scanning original images, and the original images are copied by electrophotographic process. The filter apparatus includes mirror filters having color separation filters of blue, green and red, respectively deposited on mirror surfaces and a half mirror, and these mirrors are arranged apart from each other at an angle of 90.degree., so that the apparatus as a whole has a cylindrical shape. The light scanned the original images is reflected by the filter mirrors, and latent electrostatic images corresponding to respective colors are formed on a photoreceptor drum.
Abstract: A sewing machine has a tape feeder for laterally aligning pre-positioned tapes of different widths at a presser foot (38) with a presser foot sole (4), the presser foot arranged in such a way that it can move up and down. Several guide elements (15) constructed in the form of lamallae (34) and aligned in the tape feed direction are fitted in the tape in-feed region on the presser foot sole (4). These guide elements (15) guide the tapes laterally.
Abstract: A swab device, method, and kit for collecting and analyzing a sample for an analyte (antigens or antibodies) on the swab. The device includes a narrow rod or stick-like support in combination with an assay medium which is positioned adjacent to the support. The assay medium is extended longitudinally down the support a length sufficient to permit an immunoassay to be carried out within it. The assay medium and the support may include a capillary medium. A collection medium may also be attached to the capillary medium to enhance sample collection. The method includes collecting a sample suspected of containing the analyte in a sample collection area at the end of the swab. A liquid containing a labelled component is applied to the swab and allowed to immunochemically react with the sample. If the analyte is present, an immunocomplex is formed and retained on the swab. A wash solution is subsequently applied to the swab to effect the separation of the immunocomplex from excess free label.
Abstract: In a facsimile apparatus including a continuous transmission function, an image reader reads images of first and second documents to be transmitted set thereon and converts the read images into first and second image data, respectively, and a reservation controller controls a transmitter to start transmitting the second image data at a predetermined timing.
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a fiber fortified foodstuff that includes preparing the foodstuff and then topically applying supplemental fiber. In particular, puffed snack products are prepared by mixing cereal with a fiber premix and sufficient moisture to form an extrudable dough base. The dough base is cooked in a cooking extruder and then extruded to form a wet puff which is dried and then coated with an oil slurry. A flavor premix which includes supplemental dietary fiber, particularly a soluble fiber, is topically applied to the oil coated dry puff to form a fiber fortified, puffed snack product.

Abstract: The valve, mounted on a vent pipe, allows the passage of gas in both directions, but prevents any escape of liquid fuel. The valve comprises a closed containment 7 equipped with a lower inlet port 8 and with an upper outlet port 9 which are connected to the vent pipe, a stationary circular inner cup 10 kept spaced from the inner wall of the containment and from the inlet port, a vertically displaceable assembly surmounting the cup and comprising a float 13 and a needle 16 which is equipped with a gasket 17 and is fixed to the float and which, in the high position of the assembly, can close off the outlet port 9, and means 11, 14, 15 for causing an upward displacement of the assembly as a result of an inclination of the containment 7. Furthermore, the annular space between the cup 10 and the inner wall of the containment 7 is profiled so as to form a Venturi tube 18 which is kept in relationship via at least one passage 20 with the volume 19 located between the cup 10 and the base of the float 13.

Abstract: Folded printed products, held at the fold thereof by clamps, are fed to an opening device. This opening device comprises grippers, each gripper having a stationary gripper jaw and a movable gripper jaw which delimit a slide gap in the closed position of the movable gripper jaw. Along this slide gap there is displaceable a pusher member for the purpose of pushing out of the slide gap the printed product gripped at its open-edge region by the respective gripper. The pusher member thereby acts upon a marginal lap of a first product portion which protrudes beyond the other or second product portion. By virtue of the pre-bending of the printed products, the second product portion is entrained during pushing action at the first product portion and, as a beneficial result of such bending, lifts off from the first product portion upon leaving the slide gap, the marginal lap of the first product portion still being guided in the slide gap.
