  • Patent number: 8266466
Abstract: The present invention relates to a synchronized timestamp mechanism in a packet processing system. This synchronized timestamp mechanism provides a globally synchronized counter value so counters located on separate packet processing cards can be synchronized. The synchronizing of these packet processing cards provides tracking of how long it takes for packets to be processed, provides the ability to generate packet headers that include sequence numbers for robust header compression, and allows the use of encryption protocols without a time reference signal. The synchronization is provided by sending the cards with counter value information and this information can be used to update the card's internal counter value information so that the card is synchronized with other cards.

  • Patent number: 8244272
Abstract: Methods and systems of continuously optimizing data in WiFi positioning systems. A location-based services system uses WiFi-enabled devices to monitor WiFi access points in a target area to indicate whether a WiFi access point has moved relative to its previously recorded location. A WiFi-enabled device communicates with WiFi access points within range of the WiFi-enabled device so that observed WiFi access points identify themselves; A reference database is accessed to obtain information specifying a recorded location for each observed WiFi access point in the target area. The recorded location information is used for each of the observed WiFi access points in conjunction with predefined rules to infer whether an observed WiFi access point has moved relative to its recorded location. The reference database is informed of the identity of any observed WiFi access point that is inferred to have moved.

  • Patent number: RE43633
Abstract: A system for indexing displayed elements that is useful for accessing and understanding new or difficult materials, in which a user highlights unknown words or characters or other displayed elements encountered while viewing displayed materials. In a language learning application, the system displays the meaning of a word in context; and the user may include the word in a personal vocabulary to build a database of words and phrases. In a Japanese language application, one or more Japanese language books are read on an electronic display. Readings (‘yomi’) for all words are readily viewable for any selected word or phrase, as well as an English reference to the selected word or phrase. Extensive notes are provided for difficult phrases and words not normally found in a dictionary. A unique indexing scheme allows word-by-word access to any of several external multi-media references.
