  • Patent number: 4014563
Abstract: Run-away preventing device for skis. A pair of prongs are pivotally mounted at each side of a ski for alternately occupying an inactive position alongside of and parallel with the ski or an active position projecting downwardly from the ski. A generally U-shaped member is connected to said prongs and lies against the upper surface of the ski and under the ski boot when the latter is in position on the ski. Said U-shaped member is so arranged as to be subjected to tension when pressed down against the ski by the ski boot with such tension being relieved when same is permitted by removal of the ski boot to spring up away from the ski and move said prongs into the above-mentioned active position. Said generally U-shaped member and the prongs connected thereto comprise only a single movable part and hence combine a minimum of parts with a maximum of reliability.

  • Patent number: 4013615
Abstract: A vinyl monomer alone, or a mixture of a vinyl monomer and at least one comonomer copolymerizable with said vinyl monomer and having a faster rate of polymerization than the rate of polymerization of the viny monomer, is emulsion-polymerized in an aqueous medium in the presence of a surface active agent and a pigment and, if required, other additives, under vigorous stirring. The polymer particles are substantially spherical. They do not contain interconnected pigment particles on the surface thereof but rather the pigment particles are substantially uniformly distributed in the interior of the polymer particles. There is obtained a powder composition adapted for electrostatic spray coating. When an agent for preventing thermal cracking is added to the emulsion polymerization reaction mixture after the completion of polymerization, there is obtained an electrostatic spray coating powder paint composition which does not become deteriorated if the coating film is heated at high fusing temperatures.

  • Patent number: 4011659
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for bringing a holder for an indicating member, e.g. a mirror, scale etc. component of measuring means, into exact coaxiality with a rotatable body, such as a vehicle wheel or wheel shaft, for checking the axis position and direction of the body. The apparatus comprises three main parts, viz. (a) a base member attachable to the body to be checked, (b) an intermediate member displaceable on the base member, and (c) said holder, which is tiltably carried on the intermediate member. Displacement of the intermediate member on the base member supplemented by tilting of the holder on the intermediate member readily brings the axis of the holder with its indicating member into accurate alignment with the axis of the body.

  • Patent number: 4010408
Abstract: An operator for an upwardly acting door. A reversible electric motor is drivingly connected to the door by an intermediate drive linkage. A switch assembly is associated with the operator for controlling the upward and downward movement of the door, which switch assembly includes first and second limit switches for deactivating the motor when the door reaches its lowermost and uppermost positions, respectively. A third switch functions as a safety switch for causing reversal in the motor rotation when the driving force exceeds a preselected maximum. Fourth and fifth cut-off switches are respectively positioned adjacent the first and second switches for overriding the third switch when the door is within a preselected distance from its closed or open position. The limit and cut-off switches are controlled by a rotatable screw member having a pair of traveling nuts thereon which coact with a pair of individually movable control slides.
