    Abstract: A jib crane supportable on a plurality of vertically spaced pairs of articulated joints disposed along first and second common axes laterally spaced apart and disposed parallel to each other to provide for horizontal swinging of the jib crane on both the first and second common axes, the upper of the pairs of joints being connected to the lower of the pairs of joints by a vertical post member to resist forces tending to displace or mis-align the joints from said common axes, respectively. The vertical post member preferably is equidistant of the said first and second common axes. The vertical distance between the upper and the lower joints is several times the distance between the said first and second common axes. This is an abstract only of the specific illustration of the invention given by way of example, and is not to be used in the interpretation of the claims nor as a limitation on the scope of the invention.

    Abstract: The invention is a dispense head for use with a metal beer keg to supply beer under carbon dioxide gas pressure, the keg being of the type having a standard neck fitting including co-axial gas and beer valves operated by insertion of a probe into the neck. The dispense head can be attached to the keg with the probe raised and in this condition a gas shut-off valve closes the gas passageway. This is opened automatically on the lowering of the probe into the neck of the keg which also opens the keg valves. The gas shut-off valve prevents foaming of beer when the dispense head is attached and spraying out of beer dregs when the dispense head is removed from an empty keg.

    Abstract: In an apparatus for taking up a relatively thicker wire such as an electric wire or an electric cable on a reel, comprising a distributor for distributing said wire along the axis of said reel, wire raising up detecting means is provided which electrically detects that a first turn of a new winding layer of said wire is being raised up on the reel adjacent to either of the flanges of said reel, so that it produces an electric signal to instruct said distributor to move in a reverse direction. The detecting means is characterized to comprise at least two adjacent arms pivotally mounted on a fixed axis parallel to the axis of said reel to be engaged against the wire wound on said reel; and an angular-electro converter to convert the angle at which said arms are pivotally moved relative to each other into an electric signal having the amplitude proportional to the angle.

    Abstract: An attachment drive for a multiple spindle machine is disclosed which machine has a front gearbox wall and a rear gearbox wall defining a gearbox therebetween. A spindle drive shaft extends through the walls in a conventional manner. The front gearbox wall has a plurality of front mounting holes whereas the rear gearbox has at least one rear mounting hole which is aligned with one of the front mounting holes. An idler gear is mounted on the spindle drive shaft within the gearbox with a spindle drive means secured to the spindle drive shaft outside of the gearbox. A first front cartridge journals a first front cartridge shaft and a first rear cartridge journals a first rear cartridge shaft in respective front and rear mounting holes having a common axis of symmetry. A coupling interconnects the first front cartridge and the first rear cartridge with the rear cartridge engaging the spindle drive means to rotate the first front cartridge shaft in accordance with the rotation of the spindle drive shaft.

The conduction path extends back and forth between a region proximate a first rotor end and a region proximate a second rotor end a plurality of times. The conduction path is connected to either the source or the sink to provide energy transfer therebetween.     Abstract: This invention generally pertains to a process for producing a foamed thermoplastic resin article by utilizing the phenomenon that a solid thermoplastic resin sorbs a gas under pressure, and more particularly to a process for producing a foamed thermoplastic resin article comprising the steps of making a solid thermoplastic resin containing a nucleating agent quickly sorb a gas under a high pressure P.sub.1, lowering said gas pressure to a low pressure P.sub.2 (P.sub.1 > P.sub.2 > the atmospheric pressure) when the gas sorption quantity reaches a predetermined value so as to equilibrate or stabilize said predetermined gas sorption quantity, feeding said gas sorbed thermoplastic resin into an extruder while said gas pressure is maintained at said low pressure P.sub.2 and extruding the resultant resin to thereby produce a foamed thermoplastic resin article. In this invention, the gas sorbed by the thermoplastic resin contributes to foam in the thermoplastic resin.

    Abstract: An adjustable valve assembly as disclosed wherein a plurality of valve blocks may be stacked or ganged side by side, and each used to control a machine part. Each valve block has a solenoid actuated valve to control flow of fluid such as air into a piston and cylinder assembly to move a part of the machine. The air flow is adjustably throttled by a needle valve in either the forward stroke or return stroke of the machine part. The needle valve has a normal at-rest position and may be moved in two directions toward opening and toward closing to establish a variable orifice in the valve block. First and second line shafts extend transversely to all of the various valve blocks for actuating the needle valves in the several valve blocks. Such actuation includes for each valve block first and second drive trains from the line shafts to the needle valve member with first and second clutches in the first and second drive trains and selectively actuable for opening and closing movements of the valve member.

A control piston is positioned in the second end portion of the housing and is movable between first and second positions as is a valve stem, which is connected to the valve member and extends axially to a position adjacent the control piston and is adapted to be engaged and moved by the control piston.

    Abstract: A circuit for providing a regulated square wave output voltage and a regulated DC output voltage or both. An AC source energizes a switching circuit, having a variable switching rate, which connects a capacitor in voltage clamping relationship to an AC load for both half cycles of the AC voltage thereacross. This switching rate is controlled in accordance with the time accumulation of an electrical quantity, in the present instance the voltage across the AC load. The DC voltage across the capacitor attains a predetermined equilibrium value when the frequency of the AC output voltage is equal to the frequency of the AC source. If the DC capacitor voltage and the AC output voltage derived therefrom deviate from their equilibrium values, as, for example, because of a change in the level of load current, there occur transient changes in the switching rate of the switching circuit which result in changes in the phase displacement between the AC input voltage and the AC output voltage.
