Abstract: An apparatus for driving capacitive light emitting diodes which can be reduced in size. For supplying a capacitive light emitting diode with a driving pulse which varies the voltage with a predetermined amplitude through a driving line, the driving apparatus comprises a resonance current path including a capacitor, a first switching element for supplying the driving line with a current in accordance with charges accumulated on the capacitor when it is on, and a second switching element for grounding one electrode of the capacitor when it is on, thereby supplying the other electrode of the capacitor with a current in accordance with charges accumulated in the capacitive light emitting element through the driving line.
Abstract: Techniques are provided for performing structural joins for answering containment queries. Such inventive techniques may be used to perform efficient structural joins of two interval lists which are neither sorted nor pre-indexed. For example, in an illustrative aspect of the invention, a technique for performing structural joins of two element sets of a tree-structured document, wherein one of the two element sets is an ancestor element set and the other of the two element sets is a descendant element set, and further wherein each element is represented as an interval representing a start position and an end position of the element in the document, comprises the following steps/operations. An index is dynamically built for the ancestor element set. Then, one or more structural joins are performed by searching the index with the interval start position of each element in the descendant element set.

Abstract: A composition useful for making gelled fluids by crosslinking hydratable polymers is an aqueous solution of zirconium complexed with carbonate and bicarbonate as the only multidentate ligands complexed with zirconium. The composition also provides pH modifying capability and the crosslinking is delayed, so that the single composition replaces several liquid additives previously necessary for generation of fluids used, for example, in hydraulic fracturing.
Abstract: Provided is a method, system, and program for allowing communication among nodes in a system. A request is received in a source node from a source object executing in the source node to send a message to a destination object executing in a destination node. Each node includes a processor capable of multitasking multiple program objects and a communication interface to transmit and receive data with the other nodes. A determination is made in the source node as to whether the destination node and source node are a same node. The message is sent in the source node to the destination object within the source node if the destination node is the source node. If the destination node is not the source node, then the source node transmits the message to the destination node through the communication interface. The destination node sends the message to the destination object within the destination node.

Abstract: A method of dispensing a flowable conductive paste onto a greensheet from a dispensing apparatus comprising an orifice member having first and second surfaces and a bore therethrough between the surfaces, a pressurized chamber adjacent the orifice member first surface containing the paste, and a punch having a face movable through the orifice member bore. The method comprises positioning the punch outside the orifice member bore such that the punch face is spaced from the orifice member first surface, flowing a desired amount of paste onto the punch face, moving the paste on the punch face through the orifice member bore until the punch face extends beyond the orifice member second surface, and contacting the workpiece with the paste while still on the punch face to deposit the paste on the greensheet.

Abstract: Semiconductor structures and methods for suppressing latch-up in bulk CMOS devices. The semiconductor structure comprises a shaped-modified isolation region that is formed in a trench generally between two doped wells of the substrate in which the bulk CMOS devices are fabricated. The shaped-modified isolation region may comprise a widened dielectric-filled portion of the trench, which may optionally include a nearby damage region, or a narrowed dielectric-filled portion of the trench that partitions a damage region between the two doped wells. Latch-up may also be suppressed by providing a lattice-mismatched layer between the trench base and the dielectric filler in the trench.

Abstract: A method for searching Web pages that begins with the identification of query criteria entered into a search provider. A set of Web pages that satisfies the query criteria are determined. Then, a page ranking is ascertained for each Web page in the set. The Web pages are presented in order by page ranking. The page ranking is based upon at least one relevancy factor that includes a browsing-time factor. The browsing-time factor can be calculated from browsing behavior exhibited by users, who provided similar query criteria. The set of users from which the browsing-time factor is calculated can include a current user, a set of users sharing characteristics with the current user, and/or a general set of users. Browsing behavior can include time spent at a Web page, where the browsed Web page is a page that was previously presented as a search result for the similar query criteria.

Abstract: A lens element has an annular flange portion which has a tapered lateral surface so as to form at least an annular clearance tapering from a rear edge thereof when it is received in a lens holder. An adhesive which is partly filled in the clearance curs in wedge-shape to secure the lens element to the lens holder, and besides forming wedges by which the lens element is forced and held in an axial direction so as thereby to prevent the lens element from falling out of the lens holder even if the adhesive exfoliates from either one or both of the lens element and the lens holder.
Abstract: A thermoplastic composition. The thermoplastic composition includes a thermoplastic; a silicone hot melt additive; and optional filler. A method of processing the thermoplastic composition is also disclosed.
Abstract: A heat exchange apparatus comprises an evaporation unit 1 for exchanging heat between a working fluid and a high-temperature fluid to thereby evaporate the working fluid, a condenser unit for exchanging heat between the working fluid and a low-temperature fluid to thereby condense the working fluid, an evaporation-side communication unit 5a for leading the working fluid evaporated in the evaporation unit 1 to the condenser unit 2, and a condenser-side communication unit 5b for leading the working fluid condensed in the condenser unit 2 to the evaporation unit 1. The high-temperature fluid is prevented by condenser-side shield plates 101, 102 from flowing to the condenser-side communication unit 5b. As a result, the heating and evaporation of the working fluid in the condenser-side communication unit 5b by the high-temperature fluid is prevented or reduced thereby preventing a dry-out phenomenon.
