  • Patent number: 4646849
Abstract: A reversing and adjustment mechanism, especially for a reversible plough adapted for hydraulically adjustable furrow width and hydraulic reversing of the plough, wherein the reversing and adjustment mechanism comprises a hydraulic cylinder (8) with a "hydraulic memory" for adjustment of the furrow width. The oil chambers on both sides of the ordinary piston (15) in the adjustment cylinder (8) communicate with a reservoir (24) via two pilot-controlled check valves (26, 25) with open passage toward the adjustment cylinder (8) and a second direction-control valve (10). The chamber (31) in the adjustment cylinder (8) between the rear head and a freely movable piston (17) communicates on the one hand with a hydraulic cylinder (7) for reversing the plough, preferably with the rod end thereof, via a first check valve (14) with open passage toward the reversing cylinder (7), and on the other hand communicates with the reservoir (24) via a flow-control valve (28) and a first direction-control valve (9).

  • Patent number: 4647228
Abstract: A height adjusting device for machines or machine elements comprises three adjustment members positioned atop one another and together determining two sets of opposing surfaces. These surfaces allow a gyroscopic movement of the uppermost adjustment member, and the height of the height adjusting device can be adjusted stepwise, one of the two opposing surfaces in the first set of surfaces comprising one or more aligned supporting projections. These projections can cooperate selectively and tiltably with one or more recesses in a row of recesses in the second surface of the first set of surfaces. The depth of the recesses in said row of recesses varies stepwise. The surfaces of the second set of surfaces are provided with cooperating secondary projections and secondary recesses. The line on which the secondary projections are positioned forms an angle of substantially 90.degree. with the line on which the supporting projections are positioned.

  • Patent number: 4646473
Abstract: Workpieces having three-dimensional surfaces can be efficiently sanded by rotatable sanding members mounted on spindles which are supported for movement in a circle of revolution over the surfaces of the workpieces as the individual spindles are selectively rotated about their longitudinal axes in either of two opposite directions during predetermined portions of each circle of revolution. A sanding apparatus for accomplishing this function includes a cone clutch arrangement for selectively reversing the direction of rotation in accordance with a cam directed control arrangement acting on pivotally supported yokes carrying the individual spindles.

  • Patent number: 4646487
Abstract: A plastic gutter is designed with a longitudinally extending bead (5) under an outwardly facing lip (4) and a corresponding longitudinally extending bead (5) on the inside of the rear part. At least at the end of each length of gutter the longitudinally extending beads have been machined in such a manner that material has been removed at regular intervals so that the remaining material constitutes one or more locking pieces (6).An assembly piece (7) with a rubber packing (8) for assembling adjoining lengths of gutter, for example, has a number of locking holes (9) in an outwardly facing lip (11) and a number of corresponding locking holes (9) in a bent edge part (10) at the rear. There is hereby obtained a gutter which is both quickly and easily mounted and taken down and where the parts are nevertheless securely held together so that an axial movement between the parts will not occur.

  • Patent number: 4644932
Abstract: Method and device for manufacturing of asphalt bulk masses where a substantial part of the heat energy of the furnace gases from the drying and mixing process is transferred to the bulk mass fractions before those are supplied to the drying and mixing process and where the furnace gases by this process at the same time are cleaned for pollutions. Bulk masses are directed downwards between two parallelly arranged inclined planes (1, 5) where the lower inclined plane (1) comprising horizontally arranged downwards directed ribs (2) directing the furnace gases to the lower side of the bulk masses and where the second inclined plane (5) comprising vertically arranged ribs (4) suctioning the cleaned furnace gases up from the bulk masses after a substantial part of the heat energy being transferred to the bulk masses. At the lower and upper ends of the inclined planes accumulations of the bulk masses (7, 11) are maintained for preventing air from the atmosphere to penetrate into the system.

  • Patent number: 4644439
Abstract: A spark-over detector for an electrostatic precipitator has a current sensor (3) which provides a signal (a) which is differentiated twice to produce a signal (c). If the level of the signal (c) is above a predetermined level then a level-detecting circuit (7) passes a signal (d) to an AND-gate (8). A second level detecting circuit (9) receives the signal (a) and if this signal is above a predetermined level passes the signal (e) to a timing circuit (10) which provides a signal (f) from a first preset time after having received the signal (e) until a second preset time after the signal (e) has ceased. Thus, if a spark over starts to occur signals (d) and (f) occur simultaneously and the AND-gate produces an output signal (g) which can be used to trigger the thyristor switch circuit of the pulse generator to conduction to prevent thyristor damage or destruction.

  • Patent number: 4642984
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic system of the type in which a pump unit supplies pressurized fluid to a plurality of bidirectional servomotors. The system includes at least two modules each of which includes a bidirectional servomotor, a control valve and a compensating valve on the upstream side of the control valve. The pump unit includes a feedback loop having a throttle and a pump pressure regulator in series. Each of the modules has a sensing conduit connected to a common header which is operable to sense load pressure at the upstream side of the control valve for controlling the compensating valve in accordance with the load pressure. A pressure divider comparator valve is connected to the header and a point in the feedback loop between the throttle and the pump pressure regulator. The comparator valve is operable to compare the pressure at such point with the pressure in the header and to bleed pressurized fluid from that point to the tank to equalize the pressures.

  • Patent number: 4644097
Abstract: Armored submarine power cables are designed for laying in waters with varying depths. The cable has an armor which is heavy and strong (steel wires) in shallow water sections. In very deep waters the weight of steel armor is prohibitive so that in these sections the armor is made of synthetic light weight material. The transitions between the two types of armor are made physically concentrated but flexible enough to prevent sharp bends of the cable core as it passes cable laying machinery. The armor joint may be displaced from cable core joints and substantially effectively transfers all longitudinal strain in the cable.
