  • Publication number: 20090032171
Abstract: Fanfold thermal insulation and method of manufacture includes an elongated generally planar web comprising a plurality of generally planar sheets of non-fibrous thermal insulation material. A plurality of connectors are positioned at an interface between adjacent edge portions of two of the sheets. The connectors hold the two sheets together in a particular rotational relationship that allows rotation of the sheets about an axis generally coincident the adjacent edge portions of the sheets. The particular rotational relationship allows rotation between a first orientation in which the sheets are in facial contact and a second orientation in which the sheets are generally aligned in a plane. The connectors comprise at least two hinges defined by a continuous portion of the thermal insulation material spanning the sheets and a disconnected extent of the adjacent edge portions that is between the hinges. The adjacent edge portions are substantially disconnected at the disconnected extent.

  • Patent number: 4570424
Abstract: A cinch for use with a western saddle of the type employing a front cinch and a flank cinch. A western saddle typically has a cinch strap located on the near-side (left side) of the saddle disposed forwardly from the saddle's center, and an off strap located on the off-side (right side) of the saddle in a position opposing the cinch strap. The cinch strap and off strap are used for attaching the front cinch. A flank cinch billet also extends from either side of the saddle near its rear for attaching to the flank cinch. The cinch disclosed includes a flexible front cinch member for attaching to and extending between the cinch strap and the off strap of the saddle and having a midsection for extending under the rib cage of the horse. The cinch of the present invention further includes flexible near-side and off-side flank cinch members which connect to the midsection of the front cinch member and extend outwardly and rearwardly to the flank cinch billets of the saddle.

  • Patent number: 4565055
Abstract: A halter saver for use with a halter and halter lead is disclosed. The halter saver includes a headpiece which encircles the head of the horse having a midsection which passes over the poll and two cheek portions which extend through the cheek rings of the halter to a position beneath the nose. A brow piece extends between and slidably connects to the cheek portions of the headpiece at the brow. A connector strap connects between the brow piece and the poll strap of the halter and slidably connects to the midsection of the headpiece. The halter saver operates to maintain the poll strap of the halter at the poll and, when tension is applied to the halter lead, pressure is applied at the poll for more effective control when the horse is lead and to prevent damage to the halter when the horse is tied.

  • Patent number: 4562793
Abstract: The specification discloses a honda retainer for a lariat to stop the lariat from sliding through the honda thus preventing the lasso from being fully tightened around the catch when the roper catches, but does not wish to retain the catch. The honda retainer includes a squat cylindrical member having a generally coaxial bore to admit the lariat therethrough. The honda retainer is secured in position on the portion of the lariat which forms the lasso by the use of four nails which insert into four radial bores in the cylindrical member to extend partially into the lariat in the axial bore.

  • Patent number: 4495753
Abstract: The specification discloses a control halter to be used beneath a bridle to develop and maintain correct head set in a riding or performance horse. The control halter is connected to a tie-down which is in turn connected to a breast collar or the cinch of the saddle. The control halter includes a loose fitting nosepiece for being disposed high on the nose of the horse, and a keeper strap encircles the head and neck of the horse. Two connecting pieces extend from the top of the nosepiece to the top of the keeper strap, passing closely by the inside of each ear of the horse. The tie-down is attached to a loop on the nosepiece. When the horse attempts to raise its head, the martingale pulls on the control halter and the same amount of pressure is applied over the ears as is applied high on the nose. The halter is dimensioned so that lateral control of the horse is not hampered by the halter while proper head set is maintained.
