    Abstract: The non-destructive testing of materials such as for disease in living trees is carried out by determining at each of a plurality of positions in a given cross-section of said material to be tested the coefficient of absorption of a predetermined radiation source, and converting said coefficient of absorption at each of said position into a computerized tomographic display. The radiation source is selected from the group consisting of gamma, x-ray, and neutron radiation.
