  • Patent number: 4621559
Abstract: The present invention relates to a readily replaceable liner for a detonation chamber (1) intended to protect the inside of the chamber from damage when the detonation chamber is used for test firings of fragment-producing charges. The liner consists of a plurality of readily replaceable parts or sections of a few types. In the case of cylindrical detonation chambers (1), use is made primarily for protection of the mantle wall of the chamber of rectangular plates or cassettes (20) slightly cupped in one direction, which are held together by a special fitting (29) to mantle rings covering the inside of the detonation chamber wall (10). The joint between the various parts of the liner is such that a small amount of play or rattle exists between the parts. By this means, the liner is prevented from commencing to vibrate in phase with the chamber wall (10). The fundamental idea behind the invention is a readily replaceable liner capable of receiving fragments and in which only damaged parts need to be replaced.

  • Patent number: 4592283
Abstract: An explosive shell case of the kind in which fragments are produced by bursting of the case material into a number of small particles. The case material comprises a completely dense, non-compressible material which is made with embrittling zones (4) which when the shell bursts gives fragments of a predetermined shape. The case is preferably manufactured powder-metallurgically, the embrittling zones then being formed by filling at predetermined intervals with powder with the embrittling component. The case is then pressed under high all-round pressure and high temperature into a dense, compact jacket and is imparted its final properties through heat treatment.

  • Patent number: 4572337
Abstract: Fluid damper for damping aiming movements, for instance when tracking a target. The damper comprises a substantially disc-shaped cylindrical housing (9) in which a drum-wheel (11) is supported for rotation so that an inner gap spacing (24) is provided between the drum-wheel and a slipping ring (14) integrated in the outer cylindrical wall (13) of the damper housing. Said gap spacing (24) is filled with a high-viscosity damping fluid so that a damping torque is obtained which is linearly increasing to the angular velocity for velocities up to a certain level but which are limited for velocities exceeding said level due to the fact that the slipping ring (14) starts rotating with respect to the other parts of the damper housing. The slipping ring (14) is made of a material which is temperature stable and which can be made with a high accuracy with respect to its dimensions for instance carbon-fibre reinforced epoxy resin.

  • Patent number: 4516646
Abstract: The invention relates to a load cell based on the shear force principle comprising a measuring body in the form of a beam (1) supported on its outer end regions (2, 3) and loaded at its center region. The beam is provided with strain gages (10, 11, 12 and 13) mounted in intermediate zones between said end and center regions so as to be affected by deformations in the beam material due to bending of the beam (1) caused by a loading force (F). In order to make the load cell insensitive for unfavorable forces which arise due to thermal expansions or the like each of the outer end portions (2, 3) of the measuring body comprises a built-in ring shaped bearing (22,23,24,25,26). This means that the need for additional mounting details required for mounting the load cells has been eliminated. The load could be applied directly to the center region of the measuring body via a simple load coupling means (6).
