Patent number: 5295285Abstract: An improved cable tie having elongated generally semi-cylindrical beads longitudinally interconnecting the rack teeth on the cable tie strap so as to increase the material thickness adjacent a portion of the root sections of the rack teeth and to form an elongation of the transverse stress line and diversion thereof in a non-linear direction to increase the fracture resistance of the strap adjacent the rack teeth root sections where the strap has its minimum material thickness.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1993Date of Patent: March 22, 1994Assignee: All-States Inc.Inventor: William W. Patent number: 4897899Abstract: A cable tie comprises a strap having a plurality of spaced parallel racks of teeth extending along the length thereof and a head for receiving the strap. A reinforcing median strip extends along the length of the strap between the racks of teeth to add material thickness, and mechanical strength to the strap. A bifurcated pawl is included in the head so that a separate pawl engages each rack of teeth. The teeth in each rack are in substantial, contiguous alignment. The teeth in the pawls are also in substantial, contiguous alignment for engaging the teeth of the strap. The median strip guides and directs the pawls as they ratchet over and come to rest in a locked position against said rocks of teeth.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1988Date of Patent: February 6, 1990Assignee: All States Inc.Inventors: William W. Shely, Peter M. Wells

Patent number: 4788751Abstract: A cable tie has a plurality of spaced parallel racks of teeth extending along the length thereof. A reinforcing median strip extends down the strap between the racks of teeth in order to add material thickness, and therefore a mechanical strength to the strap. The pawl is bifurcated so that a separate pawl engages each rack of teeth. The teeth in each rack are offset from each other so that no deep notch extends more than approximately half way across the strap at any given transverse location. The teeth in the pawls are offset in a similar manner.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1987Date of Patent: December 6, 1988Assignee: All-States Inc.Inventors: William W. Shely, Peter M. Wells

Patent number: 4779744Abstract: A printed circuit board guide rail has one or more detents projecting far enough into the area traversed by the board to apply a horizontal holding and an antivibration pressure thereto. A notch window is formed in the part of the rail under the detent to give it a fixed-fixed suspended leaf spring quality for minimumizing vibration. The unnotched remainder of the rail enables a printed circuit board to slide freely thereover. The rail is arched to give vertical stability.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1988Date of Patent: October 25, 1988Assignee: All-States Inc.Inventors: William Shely, Peter Wells

Patent number: 4640479Abstract: A new and improved strain relief for a cord applying a closely controllable force squeezing together a split grommet surrounding the cord. More particularly, a cable tie may be wrapped around the split cylindrical grommet and pulled by a conventional cable tie gun which is set for establishing a predetermined cable tie tension. The tie pulls the split grommet together with precisely the force that is produced by that tension. Thus, any cord passing through the grommet receives a maximum stress which is set by that tension.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: All States Inc.Inventors: William W. Patent number: 4579310Abstract: An integral plastic strip is formed into a comb-like piece part having an elongated row of upstanding teeth or tabs. The root of the space between each adjacent pair of teeth or tabs is formed into a generally arcuate cove for receiving, embracing, and capturing a single wire or a cable which may be pressed into the cove. Adjacent each root cove, the teeth or tabs are marked with a number or other symbol which identifies the wire positioned there. There are a predetermined number of the root coves so that the wires or cables may be formed into discrete groups. Each strip has connectors near its opposite ends which enables a plurality of strips to be stacked together, in order to form a large group of the groups.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1985Date of Patent: April 1, 1986Assignee: All-States Inc.Inventors: Peter M.
