    Abstract: To provide a liquid crystal display device where supports for fluorescent lamps can be prevented from vibrating without affecting the ease of attachment of the supports for fluorescent lamps to the frame for the backlight. A liquid crystal display device having: a liquid crystal display panel; and a backlight having a light source for illuminating the liquid crystal display panel is characterized in that said backlight comprises at least a number of fluorescent lamps in rod form aligned in a plane facing said liquid crystal display panel, supports for fluorescent lamps for supporting the fluorescent lamps in rod form, and a frame to which the supports for fluorescent lamps are secured, and said supports for fluorescent lamps have an engaging portion for insertion into a hole created in said frame and the surface of said supports for fluorescent lamps where said engaging portion is formed has protrusions.

In a liquid crystal display panel arranging a sealing material between a TFT substrate and a CF substrate, and holding a liquid crystal layer between the TFT substrate and the CF substrate, the CF substrate has one-side surface thereof formed in a recessed shape as viewed from above, a flexible printed circuit board is connected to a region of the TFT substrate where the CF substrate and the TFT substrate do not overlap with each other, and a sealing material is formed along a shape of the CF substrate. Portions where the TFT substrate and the CF substrate overlap with each other and correspond to both sides of the portion where the flexible printed circuit board is arranged can be formed such that the sealing material is filled in the portions with no gap.

    Abstract: The present invention realizes an IPS liquid crystal display device which exhibits small directivity of viewing angle and high brightness. Below a pixel electrode having a comb-teeth-shaped electrode and having a laterally-extending trapezoidal profile, a planar common electrode not shown in the drawing is formed by way of an insulation film. When a video signal is applied to the pixel electrode, an electric field is generated between the pixel electrode and the common electrode via slit portions formed in the pixel electrode thus controlling liquid crystal molecules. The pixel electrodes are arranged in a packed state by alternately reversing the direction of the trapezoidal shape in the longitudinal direction. Since a light blocking film is not present between two pixel electrodes arranged adjacent to each other in the longitudinal direction, the liquid crystal display device can acquire high transmissivity. As a result, a liquid crystal display device having high brightness can be realized.

The common-voltage-supply-use line, the common sensing line and the scanning-signal-drive-circuit-use power source line are formed along one side of the display panel to which at least the scanning signal drive circuit is connected.

The connection portion includes positions which are brought into contact with the projecting members and portions which are not brought into contact with the projecting members. By adopting the above-mentioned constitution, the liquid crystal display device can reduce squeals and the like.

A plurality of grooves may extend into the rheometer die. The rheometer die may be incorporated into a rheometer for testing process characteristics of a material.
