  • Patent number: 5360507
Abstract: A flame resistant to nonflammable composite panel is produced from a nonextrudable core mixture with a pourable, nonflammable filling material and a binder, and on both sides cover strips, flexibly bonded to the core. For a continuous production of the composite panel in one operation, the core mixture is poured onto a flexible lower adhesive film, supported as it runs in, and a pile extending over the entire width forms there. Between the lower adhesive film and a flexible upper adhesive film, likewise supported as it runs in, material of the core mixture is continuously and uniformly drawn through a V gap and compacted there for the first time and calibrated to thickness. The adhesive films containing the precompacted core mixture are adhesively bonded to the continuously fed cover strips.

  • Patent number: 5334276
Abstract: Process and equipment for the production of an expanded honeycomb core from strips (10) coated at uniform intervals with strips of adhesive (6), in which the strips (10) with their adhesive strips (6) parallel and in staggered positions are stacked on top of one another and adhesively bonded together under pressure and if necessary at an elevated temperature, the stack (40) so formed being subsequently expanded, consists in the following: a strip (10) passes over a position detector (24), which from the adhesive strips (6) determines its position relative to a first end (P) of a stack (40), and which controls a positioning drive (25) and a cutting device (26). • Patent number: 5332510
Abstract: Process for cleaning rolling oils which, when contaminated, contain rolling fines originating from metals being processed into semi-finished products in strip form, in particular light weight metals, e.g. aluminum fines. An addition of 2 to 8 g of dimeric oleic acid is made to each 1000 g of contaminated oil and the mixture passed through a coagulator whereby the rolling fines coagulate and can be readily removed from the contaminated oil. The purified oil can be recirculated as rolling oil.

  • Patent number: 5282910
Abstract: A metal alloy workpiece is heated convectively in a first step by heat conduction, heat radiation or further non-inductive heat transfer to a temperature lying just below the solidus temperature of the alloy and is heated inductively in a subsequent second step to the final temperature lying between solidus and liquidus temperature. The process is particularly suitable for producing workpieces having thixotropic properties intended for further processing, in particular for further processing bolts or bars in die-casting, forging, rolling and pressing plants.

  • Patent number: 5255953
Abstract: The impact girder extruded in a light metal alloy and extending in the vehicle door approximately in the direction of travel can be fixed at both ends in such a way that a profile wall of the impact girder faces towards the inside of the vehicle as the inner flange and a second profile wall of the impact girder provided at a distance from the first forms an outer flange. Fastened to the impact girder is a hollow chamber profile, similarly extruded from a light metal alloy, with at least two profile chambers, the hollow chamber profile protruding into the door box below the impact girder and the profile chambers extending parallel to the latter. The hollow chamber profile provides additional impact protection.

  • Patent number: 5250125
Abstract: For the grain refinement of aluminum casting alloys, in particular aluminum/silicon casting alloys, gallium phosphide and/or indium phosphide are/is added to the melt, optionally in addition to further grain-refinement and/or modification additions. The addition of gallium phosphide and/or indium phosphide results in a good grain refinement with low shrink-hole tendency and does not have an adverse effect on modification processes.

  • Patent number: 5186236
Abstract: An alloy melt having a solidified portion of primary crystals is maintained at a temperature between solidus and liquidus temperature of the alloy. The primary crystals are molded to give individual degenerated dendrites or cast grains of essentially globular shape and hence impart thixotropic properties to the liquid-solid metal alloy phase by the production of mechanical vibrations in the frequency range between 10 and 100 kHz in this liquid-solid metal alloy phase.

  • Patent number: 5184667
Abstract: During electromagnetic continuous casting of rolled bars from aluminum/magnesium alloys defects in the form of vertical ripples and oxide deposits arise on the bar surface as a consequence of the greatly increased rate of oxidation at the melt surface due to the presence of magnesium in the melt, which defects make it necessary to mill over the rolled surfaces of the bar in the case of stringent requirements with respect to the surface quality of rolled products. The said surface defects can be prevented using an oxide barrier which dips into the melt head, extends at least over the longitudinal sides of the inductor and is arranged approximately parallel to and at a distance from said longitudinal sides, which oxide barrier is moved backwards and forwards horizonally in its longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 5170838
Abstract: Upstream of the dies (14) internally insulated in the upper region is a casting furnace and a runner system, which latter comprises a distributor through feeding all the dies (14) with metal at an identical level (60). In the region situated below an inner ring (32), a gas cushion (54) which prevents direct contact of the die (14) with the molten metal (30) is maintained, and oil is injected into this region. A joint main having distribution lines conducts air or an inert gas having the same, slight overpressure into all the dies (14). The relative pressure between a desired value dependent on the metal level (H.sub.1) and computed by program and an actual value measured in the main (62) serves for regulation and monitoring. Upon overshooting of the programmed, maximum deviation of the controlled variable, a processor triggers a manipulated variable for the actuator of the pressure control valve.
