Publication number: 20160244230Abstract: An improved printed film that achieves the dissipation of static electricity is disclosed. The improved film dissipates charge that is typically built up during the processing, handling and use of such film. One embodiment involves the selective overprinting of coating material(s) to form a continuous path that is electrically dissipative and/or conductive, which thereby enables the dissipation or equalization of static charge.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2016Publication date: August 25, 2016Applicant: American Packaging CorporationInventor: John L. Publication number: 20120308690Abstract: Film is used as a bladder that expands in response to an increase in the internal pressure while contents are heated, such as micro-waved. A laser-scored vent(s) is provided with scoring of an reduced extensibility layer, such that expansion of the package due to internal pressure (steam) pulls the film across the width of the package causing it to stretch to the point that the vent point(s) breaks through or ruptures the sealant film allowing the pressure/steam to escape.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 5, 2012Publication date: December 6, 2012Applicant: American Packaging CorporationInventor: Seth G. Holmen

Patent number: 4136777Abstract: A package with a stretchable tear element for opening the package. In a preferred embodiment the tear element extends over a packaged article and beneath a covering plastic film formed over the article to secure the article to a supporting panel. The tear element is capable of stretching sufficiently, when the plastic film is drawn down in a softened condition over the product to form the package, so that the film can conform itself and the tear element substantially to the shape of the product and any tendency of the film to form a tent across an initial span of the tear element is minimized. The tear element further stretches, in part within the package, when one end is pulled back across the film so that a portion of the element moves past the film at the exit point, producing a slicing or sawing action, while at the same time it remains essentially anchored at the opposite end. The panel is preferably foldable to form a box.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1972Date of Patent: January 30, 1979Assignee: American Packaging CorporationInventor: Ridley Watts, Jr.
