Abstract: The present invention provides a method for treating a patient having demyelinating optic neuritis (DON) comprising the sequential or simultaneous administration of a steroid compound and an interferon-beta protein. It is found that early, aggressive treatment of IFN-b is beneficial in such a treatment regimen, for example where the interferon-beta protein is administered at a cumulative weekly dose of more than 12 MIL). The method according to the invention is particularly suitable and beneficial for treatment of patients having early stage DON. In particular, the DON that will benefit from being treated according to the present invention may be in subclinical stage.

Abstract: This invention relates to methods for use in industrial production of proteins. Specifically, the present invention provides a method of recycling solid supports for cultivation of anchorage-dependent cells such as, e.g., microcarriers and Fibra-Cel® disks. Solid supports recycled by a method of the present invention allow obtaining a protein productivity level comparable to the productivity level obtained with non-recycled solid support. The method comprises the steps of rinsing with water, rinsing with a sodium hydroxide solution and second rinsing step with water.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of interferon beta, and to an interferon beta composition having a unique glycosylation pattern.

Abstract: The use of an aromatase inhibitor (AI) in the preparation of a medicament for use in inducing ovulation in a female suffering from anovulatory infertility which comprises administering to said female a single dose of the at least one aromatase inhibitor. The use of an aromatase inhibitor (AI) for the preparation of a medicament comprising a single dose of at least one aromatase inhibitor (AI) for administration to an ovulating female suffering from unexplained infertility or other types of ovulatory infertility early in one or more menstrual cycles. Such a medicament may also be administered to an anovulatory female in combination with a plurality of daily doses of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) whereby the dosage levels of FSH may be reduced. The use of AI in the preparation of a medicament for administration to a female who is a poor responder to FSH, which comprises a combination of a single dose of AI with a plurality of daily doses of FSH is also disclosed.

Abstract: A medication delivery device includes a housing, a door coupled to the housing and moveable between a closed position and an open position. The door permits insertion of a medication container, containing liquid medication, into the housing in the open position. A door opening mechanism is coupled to the door. A push member is axially moveable between a retracted position and a non-retracted position and located external to the medication container. The push member enters the medication container and pushes the liquid medication out of the medication container. A lock mechanism is coupled to the door opening mechanism and prevents opening of the door when the push member is in the non-retracted position inside the medication container, wherein the lock mechanism automatically unlocks the door opening mechanism when the push member is in the retracted position.
