Exemplary embodiments include a method for providing video, the method including receiving a request to download a video to a communications device via an Internet-Protocol-enabled connection,, determining whether the download is permitted based on a periodic fee arrangement for providing the video to the communications device and providing the video to the communications device in response to a determination that the download is permitted.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer products for storage of video via Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) are disclosed herein. Exemplary embodiments include a network-based method for video storage. The method includes receiving a request to store at least one video, retrieving the at least one video through an Internet Protocol television (IPTV) network, and storing the at least one video in a video repository in communication with the IPTV network.

Abstract: A mood of a user is estimated based on a user's profile, data indicative of a user's mood received from a communication device associated with the user and from sources other than the user, and environmental data with a potential impact on the user's mood. Data indicative of the user's mood and the environmental data are processed to filter out data that is not relevant to the user's mood. The filtered data is cross-correlated with the user profile, and the mood of the user is estimated based on the cross-correlated filtered data. A network and services may be controlled based on a user's mood. Suggestions for interacting with the user may be generated based on the user's mood.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the delivery and display of an email text message and image attachment to an IPTV enabled display device. The method comprises retrieving an email message and at least one image attachment from an email account, and saving the email message and at least one image attachment. The method further comprises analyzing the retrieved email message to determine if an IPTV account is associated with data that is comprised within the email message, and transmitting a notification to the IPTV account in the event that the email data that is comprised within the email message is determined to be associated with the IPTV account.

Abstract: Capturing a visual image, or a sequence of visual images, that includes an advertisement for a product, a service, or an event. The captured visual image is scanned by an optical character recognition application to detect key words. The key words are provided to an input/output (I/O) device to enable one or more of the key words to be confirmed, deleted, or edited. The key words include a key word identifying an electronic destination accessible over a network and corresponding to a source for the advertisement. At least one key word that has been confirmed or edited by the I/O device is transmitted over the network to the electronic destination corresponding to the source. Digitized data is received from the source, the digitized data comprising at least one of digitized event data, digitized product data, or digitized service data. The received digitized data are stored in an advertisement database.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for providing electronic transactions are provided. A method includes presenting an offer on a first commumications device to conduct an electronic transaction on another communications device that is different from the first communications device. In response to an acceptance of the offer and selection of the other communications device, the method includes retrieving a network address for the other communications device from a storage device, and executing the electronic transaction on the other commumications device via the network address.

Abstract: Analyzing data relating to physical-plant damage within a geographical region involves mapping data points to depict the density of incidents producing the damage. Mapping the data points produces a density surface corresponding to incidents of damage occurring within the particular geographical region under consideration. That density surface is preferably depicted in conjunction with a map or other visual representation of the geographical region, providing a visual representation showing the location and frequency of damage to the physical plant within that geographical region. The mapping of data points may be updated from time to time, thereby providing updated mapping of damaged density surface against which efforts to reduce damage over time may be compared with the results of such efforts.

Abstract: Automatically managing procurement of advertised products, services, and events is performed by transmitting content that includes an advertisement and an information matrix. The information matrix includes at least one of an advertisement identifier indicative of the product, service, or event; a date identifier; or a set of rule parameters specifying offer conditions. A signal is received that is indicative of a user expressing a conditional interest in procuring the advertised product or service, or procuring one or more tickets for the event. The conditional interest is predicated upon specified procurement conditions being met. An updated set of rule parameters is received specifying updated offer conditions. The procurement conditions are compared against the offer conditions. Based upon the comparison, an updated offer is transmitted for the product, service, or event.

Abstract: Packaging live broadcast electronic content for delivery on a content delivery network is provided. A first live program broadcast on a first channel is scheduled for delivery on a livecast channel, and a second live program broadcast on a second channel is scheduled for delivery on the livecast channel. The first live program is associated with a first content identifier and the first channel in an electronic program guide, and the second live program is associated with a second content identifier and the second channel in the electronic program guide. Upon receiving a program selection of at least one of the first live program or the second live program from the electronic program guide, the program selection is delivered over the livecast channel.

Abstract: A content provider inserts at least one begin tag and at least one end tag into a broadcast program. The at least one begin tag and at least one end tag defines a video clip segment for the broadcast program. The content provider transmits the broadcast program including the at least one begin tag and the at least one end tag over a network to a digital video recorder (DVR). Upon the broadcast program ending, the content provider transmits a wrapper over the network to the DVR. The wrapper includes wrapper information comprising at least one of a sponsor advertisement, a trailer broadcast, a header broadcast, or a summary of one or more video clip segments.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products are described for allocating credit based upon distribution of electronic content. The methods include distributing an item of electronic content from a distributor to a first recipient; generating a credit tracking message corresponding to the item of electronic content that includes a distributor identifier associated with the distributor; and assigning a first credit score to the distributor using the credit tracking message.

Abstract: Location-blocking and identity-blocking services that can be commercially offered by a service promoter, e.g., a cellular service provider or a web advertiser. In the identity-blocking service, the service promoter may disclose the current physical location of a mobile subscriber (i.e., a cellular phone operator) to a third party (e.g., a web advertiser) subscribing to the identity-blocking service. However, the service promoter may not send any identity information for the mobile subscriber to the third party. On the other hand, in the location-blocking service, the service promoter may disclose the mobile subscriber's identity information to the third party, but not the current physical location of the mobile subscriber. Blocking of the mobile subscriber's identity or location information may be desirable for privacy reasons, to comply with a government regulation, or to implement a telecommunication service option selected by the mobile subscriber.

Abstract: Methods of providing messages for a user can include accepting entry of a message for the user, and accepting entry of a location criteria associated with the message. Physical location information for a wireless communications device associated with the user can be obtained, and the message for the user can be transmitted when the physical location information for the wireless communications device matches the location criteria associated with the message. Related systems are also discussed.

Abstract: A system that enables a telephone service subscriber to maintain his or her privacy by providing callers with a disposable telephone number. The system comprises a database that associates the disposable telephone number with subscriber information. The system also comprises a routing device that is in communication with the database. The routing device is adapted to receive calls dialing the disposable telephone number. When a call is received by the routing device, the routing device consults the database to retrieve the subscriber information. When the subscriber information comprises a true telephone number of the subscriber, the routing device forwards the call to the true telephone number.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a communication device having a controller to present a graphical user interface (GUI) with a plurality of toolbars, detect a selection of a web-based toolbar, present the GUI with a hierarchical listing of content associated with the selected web-based toolbar, detect a selection of content from the hierarchical listing of content, create a new toolbar associated with the selected content with at least one selectable GUI element, present the GUI with the new toolbar intermixed with at least a portion of the plurality of toolbars, poll a web service for content updates, wherein the web service is associated with the selected content, and present the GUI with content updates supplied by the web service displayed in a portion of the new toolbar.
