    Abstract: A device may include a processor circuit configured to transmit, over a network medium, a request for transmission of a data communication to a first device of a network, and receive, over the network medium, a grant of the request. When the first device is associated with a first security profile, the processor circuit may be configured to encrypt the data communication based at least on a first password associated with the first security profile. When the first device is associated with a second security profile, the processor circuit may be configured to encrypt the data communication based at least on a second password associated with the second security profile. The second password may be associated with a higher password strength than the first password. The processor circuit may be configured to transmit, over the network medium, the encrypted data communication to the first device in response to the grant.

    Abstract: Various methods and systems are provided for reduction of I-pulsing artifacts. In one example, a portion of a picture is modified to be encoded as an I picture based in part upon a picture that precedes the picture. The modification can reduce an I-pulsing artifact associated with the I picture. The modified picture is intra-coded for inclusion in a series of encoded pictures, which may then be transmitted. In another example, an encoder includes adaptive pre-processing circuitry and intra-encoding processing circuitry. The pre-processing circuitry modifies a portion of a first picture based in part upon a second picture that precedes the first picture in a series of video pictures. For example, the modification may be based upon coding noise associated with the preceding picture. The intra-encoding processing circuitry encodes the modified picture as an I picture.

    Abstract: Methods and structure for utilizing a virtual Expansion ROM. One exemplary embodiment is a management device. The management device includes a memory, a Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) link, and a processor. The memory stores Expansion Read-Only Memory (Expansion ROM) boot instructions for a host. The processor identifies devices in a PCIe hierarchy by transmitting PCIe enumeration requests via the PCIe link. The processor also generates a synthetic PCIe hierarchy that includes an added virtual Expansion ROM which is not present in the PCIe hierarchy, and provides responses describing the synthetic PCIe hierarchy to a host. Furthermore, the processor acquires PCIe read requests initiated by the host that are directed to the virtual Expansion ROM, and provides boot instructions to the host from the memory based on the PCIe read requests.

By using probabilistic metering, smaller width counters can be used to perform the metering over conventional implementations, which reduces power demands and chip space demands.
