Abstract: A method and system for configuring and/or re-configuring an office device to satisfy each user's particular needs. Such a system allows a user to determine at user defined intervals, i.e., each use, monthly, or project based, what the user's needs are or will be and then access, via the Internet or intranet or some other means, a service center wherein the user can download or access via a code the desired, appropriate applications for the device.

Abstract: A document processing system for performing multiple document processing tasks while the documents travel in a straight line document path is provided. The document processing system may include a transport system for transporting the documents in a straight line path, a sensing system for sensing the presence of the document, an optical system for projecting the image of the document, a camera module for receiving the projected image and storing it onto film, a film marking system for placing blips on the film adjacent the document image, a film numbering system for placing alphanumeric characters on the film adjacent the document image, an endorsing system for placing a printed endorsement on one side of the document, an electro-optical scanning system for scanning the image of the document processing the signal into a bit mapped image or for use with external communications devices, scanning for bar code symbology, and imprinting characters on the documents.

Abstract: A bank check endorser is provided that permits endorsement in each of three discrete locations along the length of the reverse side of a check. The endorser unit utilizes a one-way clutch along the drive shaft to permit movement of the drive mechanism for the print cylinder. By releasing a latch mechanism, the housing portion, which contains the drive mechanism and the print cylinder, is moved along the length of the drive shaft to a second position.
