Patents Assigned to Blairex Laboratories, Inc.
  • Patent number: 7651681
Abstract: Methods and compositions for forming protective and/or medicated films on body tissue. Liquid compositions contain a hydrophobically modified polymer, other than an esterified lower-hydroxyalkyl-substituted cellulose, suspended or dissolved in a solvent. The modified polymer is soluble in the solvent but insoluble in body fluids. The compositions may optionally contain a separate medicinal component, i.e., one which is present in addition to any medications, if any, present in the solvent, in the modified polymer and in any other additive components such as flavors, skin penetrants, preservatives, other solvents for the additives, etc. A protective and/or medicated film is formed in situ upon body tissue by applying the liquid composition to the tissue and separating the solvent from the composition, e.g., by vaporization.

  • Patent number: 5226568
Abstract: A plastic squeeze container for dispensing an appropriate solution is disclosed. The top of the container includes a cone-shaped portion which serves as a stem or core for a valve assembly which includes an elastomeric seal which overlies and resiliently grips and circumferentially seals around the stem. The seal also covers an aperture in the container top adjacent the stem. A small central aperture in the seal where it overlies the closing of the stem, enables dispensing contents from the container when the container is squeezed, as the resulting internal pressure causes the seal to balloon slightly away from the stem and permit passage of the solution from the container through the container aperture and through the seal central aperture. When the external pressure is removed, the seal resiliently retracts against the stem and closes the container.

  • Patent number: 4739906
Abstract: A plastic squeeze bottle has a dispensing end having a central, closed-ended, cone-shaped portion which serves as a stem or core for a valve assembly which includes an elastomeric seal which overlies and resiliently grips and circumferentially seals around the stem. The seal also covers apertures in the bottle end adjacent the stem. A small central aperture in the seal where it overlies the closed end of the stem, enables dispensing contents from the bottle when the bottle is squeezed, as the resulting internal pressure causes the seal to balloon slightly away from the stem and permit passage of saline solution from the bottle through the bottle end apertures and seal central aperture. When the squeezing stops, the seal resiliently retracts against the stem and closes the bottle. A snap-on overcap assembly has seal control and closure maintenance features to avoid accidental dispensing of bottle contents due to unintentional squeezing of the bottle when the overcap is closed.

  • Patent number: 4529511
Abstract: A water treatment container is disclosed having a first chamber of variable volume and an second chamber for containing a water treating agent such as an ion exchange resin. Retainers are situated on the inlet and outlet of the second chamber to retain the water treating agent within the second chamber. Filters are positioned adjacent to retainers to filter the water. The first chamber is constructed so as to have a manually variable volume. Water added to the first chamber is caused to flow through the second chamber and out a dispensing outlet as the volume of the first chamber is reduced by application of a manually applied pressure.
