  • Patent number: 7250932
Abstract: A device for driving an LCD includes a timing control unit, a gate driving unit having a shift register and an output circuit, and a control signal transmission line for transmitting a data carry signal for enabling the shift register and a signal for controlling an data output by the output circuit using a single signal line. The data carry signal uses a rising edge trigger system, and the output control signal uses a level trigger system. In order to prevent an overlapping of the data carry signal and the output control signal, the output control signal is outputted after one clock from a time point where the data carry signal is latched using the shift register.

  • Patent number: 7169456
Abstract: Disclosed is a transcription plate for forming orientation layer by coating printed orientation agent onto a substrate. The transcription plate comprises a base film and photosensitive resin plate, such as an APR layer, wherein a number of dots are arranged on the photosensitive resin plate in a regular fashion, and an arrangement of outer dots disposed outside of an active area of the transcription plate is denser than that of inner dots disposed within an active area of the transcription plate. The transcription plate enables the thickness of the orientation layer along the edge outside of the active layer of the transcription plate to be formed with the uniform thickness. Therefore, a uniform image property can be obtained by uniform rubbing. Further, because such phenomenon as conglomeration of the orientation agent does not occur, non-uniformity of cell gaps, which is caused by the superposition on the sealing line, can be solved.

  • Patent number: 7102706
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for aligning polymer network liquid crystal. In the method, alignment of liquid crystal in a bulk state is controlled by means of an orientation power of polymer material itself which is formed by irradiating linearly polarized ultraviolet rays to monomer material having an orientation power, thereby achieving a transparent state at an initial state without an orientation layer. That is, Linearly polarized ultraviolet rays are irradiated to ultraviolet-hardening type monomers having an orientation power. Alignment of liquid crystal of a bulk state is controlled while the monomers are changed to polymers, thereby achieving an initial transparent state. The molecules of the liquid crystal are placed in disorder by a vertical electric field and the horizontal orientation power of a polymer chain.

  • Patent number: 7102611
Abstract: Disclosed is a chip-on-glass type liquid crystal display (LCD). The LCD is directed to provide a construction in a way that, while each wiring for supplying driver circuits with a driving voltage is directly formed on an LCD panel through application of COG (Chip-On-Glass) technology for producing TFT-LCD, even though the wirings are connected in series between the driver circuits, the driving voltage capable of normally operating the driver circuits is supplied to all driver circuits. To this end, in consideration of a voltage drop at the panel wiring, by increasing and outputting a driving voltage, the driving voltage inputted into an nth driver circuit is made to be equal to the driving voltage inputted into an (n+1)th driver circuit.
