Abstract: A dolly for moving heavy objects and alternatively for holding heavy objects in a static position. The dolly has a U-shaped frame with rollers for supporting and moving a heavy object. In an alternate position, the frame blocks the movement of the heavy object.

Abstract: A vehicle chassis clamp for clamping a selected chassis part (7) which presents a throughpassing bolt joint (13a-c). The clamp comprises a U-shaped stirrup bracket (6a) having two legs so spaced as to straddle the chassis part (7). Each limb has a bush (14, 15) which can be tightened against a respective side surface of the chassis part, and each bush has a cavity (14d, 15e) which embraces a respective end of the bolt joint.

Abstract: A support for mounting a vehicle chassis on an alignment bench. The support has a threaded bushing telescopically received in a sleeve fixed to a carrier arm. In use, the axial length of the bushing and sleeve assembly can be adjusted so that when received between the side walls of an attachment bracket for a vehicle suspension component, they lie closely adjacent to and preferably bear on the side walls. In use, the shank of a bolt is inserted through the side walls of the attachment bracket and the bushing and sleeve assembly received between them and is preferably retained therein by a nut received thereon. When desired, this mounting support permits the vehicle to be pivoted relative to the bench while still secured thereon by the support.

Abstract: A chain anchor clamp device which secures a vehicle to a straightening bench during a chassis straightening operation. A chain anchor plate is pivotally mounted on a retainer cap releasably connected by bolts to a lock plate slidably receivable in tracks of the bench.

Abstract: A lifting apparatus in a vehicle chassis straightening or aligning bench including a frame which can be raised and lowered and on which a vehicle chassis can rest. The lifting apparatus includes at least one post guide which can be removably secured to the frame and slidably receive a post therein. The lifting apparatus is positioned under the chassis such that lowering of the frame will result in the chassis bearing on upper end of the post and upon further lowering of the frame, displacement of the frame from the post so that a clamp device can be inserted between the chassis and the bench frame.

Abstract: A vehicle chassis straightening bench which includes a beam-frame having chassis clamps for securing the vehicle during a chassis straightening operation. The bench also has side ramp sections detachably mounted along the two longitudinal sides of the frame.

Abstract: A clamping device with a support having a seat for receiving an object to be clamped and at least one clamping chain for abutment with the object to hold the object on the support. The chain is received in a pocket on the support and releasably secured therein by a clamp. A tensioner draws the chain into firm engagement with the object to secure it to the support.

Abstract: A measuring location sensor for linear measuring devices having a probe tip of spherical configuration of a predetermined radius used for measuring the location of a hole or, in cooperation with an adaptor sleeve, a protruding element of a vehicle chassis, body or frame, irrespective of whether such hole or element is located on a horizontal surface or an inclined surface.

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring linear displacement having three slides movable along orthogonal axes. Two slides each having a scale for measuring linear displacement which extends substantially parallel to the path of movement of its associated slide. The third slide has a movable scale for measuring linear displacement, with a portion extending at substantially a right angle to the path of movement of the third slide, so that the linear displacement along all three axes can be viewed and read on all three scales from the same position and in subtantially the same sighting direction.

Abstract: A portable lift for the bench frame of a vehicle measuring, bending and aligning system with two pairs of pivotally interconnected arms driven by a pair of fluid actuated cylinders, all of which are carried by a base and when fully lowered received between longitudinal rails of the bench frame. Preferably, the lift is operated by a portable and remote power and control unit. Preferably, when raised, the lift is prevented from suddenly dropping to the fully lowered position in the event of a failure or malfunction of the drive cylinders or power unit by a catch mechanism disposed between the arms of the lift.
