  • Patent number: 10473135
Abstract: A temporary fastener a plunger having a distal portion including a plurality of plunger fingers, where depressing the plunger causes axial translation of a collet body to place the temporary fastener in an activated state where a plurality of flexible fingers in the collet body radially converge and where releasing the plunger places the temporary fastener in a clamped state in which the plurality of flexible fingers in the collet body are outwardly displaced. The temporary fastener further includes a web element positioned at a proximal end of a rod and including a plurality of opening permitting the plurality of plunger fingers to axially translate there through during depression and release of the plunger. The temporary fastener further includes a spring positioned within a case and exerting a restorative force on the collet body and the plunger in response to depression of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 10465734
Abstract: Expandable collet bodies with sectional finger-based anti-rotation features are disclosed. The collet body comprises not only a plurality of gripping finger as a first part of a two-part anti-rotation means (ARM), but also a first part of a two part translation arresting means (TAM), which may or may not be sectional in nature. The TAM prevents over translation of a collet body within the work piece(s), and cooperates with a second part of the TAM associated with a work piece or an auxiliary structure. In this manner, a collet body inserted into a work piece or auxiliary structure will not accidentally be pushed beyond the blind side of the work piece(s) during insertion or initial clamp-up.

  • Patent number: 10378571
Abstract: A removable single side fastener with ultra-low stake height grip range is disclosed. The fastener includes a housing body, a threaded screw, a drive nut and a collet body. The housing body has a housing head portion and a shank portion extending from the housing head portion with the shank portion forming at least two longitudinal slots. The threaded screw, disposed within the housing body, has a head portion rotatably confined within the housing head portion. The drive nut is rotationally coupled to the threaded screw and rotationally constrained relative to the housing body. The collet body has a pair of collet body legs converging inwardly. Each collet body leg has a toe which may extends radially outward beyond the longitudinal slots to compress work pieces against the housing head portion for fastening.

  • Patent number: 10260548
Abstract: Fastener embodiments include a housing body, a collet body and a central body. The housing body receives a first portion of the collet body, which has internal threads and an external anti-rotation feature, as well as a first portion of the central body. A second portion of the collet body and an exterior portion of the housing body provide work piece contacting surfaces. The central body, which occupies an inner portion of the housing body, is threadably coupled to the collet body and displaces and/or converges radially displaceable portions of the collet body at the second portion thereof. Interaction between the collet body anti-rotation feature and the housing body, which may be a pair of extending pins engaging a pair of slots, prevents rotation of the collet body within the housing body during rotation of the central body, while axial movement thereof remains unaffected within intended operation parameters.

  • Patent number: 10112759
Abstract: A single dose material and applicator package that is easily held for removal of a cover and that contains an easily removable applicator. A tray has an applicator well and a material well. Formed in the applicator well is a finger depression adjacent the material well and an applicator support depression adjacent an opposing end of the applicator well. The finger depression permits easy grasping of the tray for removing the cover. The applicator support depression acts as a fulcrum to pivot or lever the applicator out of the tray when a force is applied to one end of the applicator. A material well ramp permits a controlled amount of material to be placed on the applicator brush.

  • Patent number: 10094408
Abstract: Fasteners and related systems according to the invention include a collet body having a first part of a two part anti-rotation arrangement and a cylinder body having a second part of the two part anti-rotation arrangement wherein the collet body and the cylinder body are matably axially translatable with respect to each other, and have the same or similar outer diameter in some embodiments or not in others. A threaded member rotationally engages the collet body and compressively contacts the cylinder body during operation of the fastener to creating a clamping effect. Rotational interference between the first and second parts of the anti-rotation arrangement preferably occurs at sectional face portions of at least the collet body. Resistance to induced rotation of the cylinder body relative to a work piece rotation of the threaded member is preferably provided by a tool engaging a tool interface present on the cylinder body.

  • Patent number: 10001156
Abstract: Methods, articles and systems for off-center, non-destructive association between at least two work pieces using a blind fastener component or system having a first part of a first two part anti-rotation arrangement without deformation or loss of compressive association therebetween, and/or fastening system failure. Article and system embodiments include at least one dynamic sleeve insert having a second part of the first anti-rotation arrangement on an inner surface thereof and a first part of a second anti-rotation arrangement on an outer surface thereof, wherein the inner surface accommodates substantial axial translation of the blind fastener, the first part of the second anti-rotation arrangement is functionally complementary to an auxiliary structure having a second part of the second anti-rotation arrangement, and optionally the second anti-rotation arrangement accommodates greater than nominal lateral translation (shear movement) between the dynamic sleeve insert and the auxiliary structure.

  • Patent number: 9970468
Abstract: Biased blind side fasteners and related methods for temporarily securing together at least two work pieces that each define a hole through which at least a portion of the fastener may pass. Fastener embodiments include an elongate, hollow case for substantially housing a generally cylindrical collet body and a bias element for urging the collet body into the case, and at least partially housing a central rod having a proximal end linked to a proximal portion of the case by a web element and a distal end extending from the case. Such embodiments further include a translatable plunger for temporarily overcoming the urging of the bias element and causing extension of the collet body away from the case, thereby permitting insertion of a fastener into the work pieces' holes, wherein the plunger is formed to substantially translatably pass through the web element.

  • Publication number: 20170307002
Abstract: A single side temporary fastener (SSTF) capable of maintaining a clamping force in a material stack subject to material creep or adjunct extrusion during clamp up processes is disclosed. The SSTF comprise a rotationally constrained but freely translatable collet body that is disposed within an auxiliary structure such as a fastener housing. A fastener comprises the aforementioned collet body, which at least partially translates within the aforementioned auxiliary structure, and further comprises a threaded screw for rotationally engaging with the collet body, which by way of an anti-rotation means associated therewith and with the auxiliary structure, is rotationally constrained but is free to axially translate. Constant clamping pressures are made possible in such embodiments by the inclusion of at least one biasing element between compression force transmitting elements and/or assemblies of the fasteners.
