  • Patent number: 7080819
Abstract: A fuel injection valve includes a solenoid, which is filled with low-pressure oil. The solenoid receives a biasing means and a movable member. The movable member is actuated by the biasing means and magnetic force generated by the solenoid. The movable member includes a flat-plate portion that contacts with the solenoid and departs from the solenoid. The outer circumferential periphery of the flat-plate portion has multiple notches, through which low-pressure fuel flows into to the upper side of the flat-plate portion that has an oil passage groove, through which a center portion of flat-plate portion communicates with the outer circumferential portion of flat-plate portion. Each notch has a deepest portion that is radially most recessed from the outer circumferential periphery of the flat-plate portion. The oil passage groove is apart from a deepest portion of the notches.

  • Patent number: 7081734
Abstract: A method of providing ride-through capability in a chiller/refrigeration system employs a variable speed drive with an active converter stage, a DC link stage and an inverter stage for providing variable frequency and voltage to power at least one motor. An induction motor is coupled to the output of the inverter stage for driving a compressor in the chiller/refrigeration system. The ride-through method comprises operating the active converter to regulate the DC link voltage of the DC link stage to a predetermined voltage level until the current through the active converter equals a predetermined current limit, then transferring regulation of the DC link to the inverter upon reaching the current limit of the converter. The compressor is unloaded, and the power flow through the inverter is reversed to maintain the voltage level of the DC link stage.

  • Patent number: 7082006
Abstract: A compact optical tracking system for magnetic tape is disclosed which is independent of the magnetic format and head structure which can generate a position error signal without encoding on the servo track. A plurality of optical servo modules is arranged in a linear array. Each optical servo module contains an optical beam source, preferably a laser, an optical beam interference composite hologram for producing a predetermined pattern on a target and at least one detector for detecting an optical beam reflection. A position correction signal is generated by one or all of the optical servo modules for re-positioning a magnetic head, which reduces the error in the correction signal from tape degradation and dimensional changes. Reference grating may be added to provide further position calibration prior to the tape being positioned over the head.

  • Patent number: 7075881
Abstract: A signal recording/playback apparatus includes a recording data converter. The recording data converter converts on a data pattern having a large influence on adjacent tracks on an optical disk, and outputs the converted data to an optical pickup. Specifically, by performing a data converting process in which, for a data pattern having a predetermined length of at least consecutive bits having identical values, part of the bits is inverted based on a conversion table, the recording data converter compensates a recording operation. Alternatively, instead of inverting the bits, by controlling the output power and pulse width of a laser, the recording operation is compensated. The signal recording/playback apparatus includes a played-back data converter. In the data playback mode of the signal recording/playback apparatus, the data converted by the recording data converter is identified and decoded into the original data by the played-back data converter. The played-back data converter outputs the original data.

  • Patent number: 7073952
Abstract: An optical alignment device holds fiber collimators in place with extremely good mechanical and environmental stability. The device includes a ball with a hole traversing the ball, an upper clamping block with a first inner concave spherical surface and a lower clamping block with a second inner concave spherical surface. The hole includes a shape that can accommodate or contact an optical component whose alignment is to be controlled. The ball, together with the enclosed optical component is firmly held between the first and second inner concave surfaces of the clamping blocks, which are tightened against the ball with screws. When firmly clamped within the concave surfaces, the ball is prevented from accidental movement but can still rotate about any axis to align the optical component. Once alignment is achieved, the optical component and the ball are secured in place by epoxy, glue, solder or other suitable adhesive.
