Patent number: 5451560Abstract: The present invention relates to image-formation on any selected kind of objective body. The characterizing features reside in such that, based upon fed image data, required images are formed on an image-transferable sheet acting for image carry-over service and in reliance on sublimation image transfer technique, and then, by the use of said sheet with said images thus formed thereon, the formed images thereon are transferringly applied on the objective body. By adopting the above measures, the objective body can be formed sharply and clearly with any desired images, irrespective of kind and configuration thereof, with such superior results of highly improved unity and solidability between the formed images and the objective body to be decorated with.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1993Date of Patent: September 19, 1995Assignee: Dai Nippon Insatsu Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masanori Akada, Yoshikazu Ito, Jumpei Kanto, Mitsuru Takeda, Masaki Kutsukake, Noritaka Egashira, Shunsuke Mukasa, Takao Suzuki, Hideo Hosoi, Yasuo Otatsume

Patent number: 5441567Abstract: A strip or roll of thermal transfer type recording sheet has a base film on one side of which a hot-melt ink layer is formed for recording on paper or other surface by thermal transfer. An end mark or marks to be detected optically for warning the user of the fact that the recording roll is being used up is/are formed adjacent one end of the strip by gravure printing with use of a light-reflective ink. The end mark or marks produced by gravure printing are of such constant thickness, and with the bounding edges so sharply defined, that they permit positive detection by an optical sensor. For the production of the end marks by gravure printing, a web of base film with the hot-melt ink layer formed on one side thereof, with a width several times greater than that of each strip of recording sheet to be manufactured, is fed through a printing unit of a gravure printing section.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1992Date of Patent: August 15, 1995Assignee: Dai Nippon Insatsu Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shigeki Umise, Hirokatsu Imamura

Patent number: 5433393Abstract: In a transfer printing film roll comprising a bobbin, and a transfer printing film wound around the bobbin, the inner trailing end of the transfer printing film is bonded to the bobbin over the width of the film so strongly as to prevent separation of the film from the bobbin due to the force of a feed motor for paying out the film even when the film has been paid out completely from the bobbin. Because of the strong bonding made over the width of the film, the film can be wound around the bobbin with a uniform distribution of tension and without offset of the side edges of the film wound over each other. When the film has been paid out completely to the trailing end, tension on the film increases so that the load on the feed motor also increases. The increased load can be utilized to detect the end of the film. This eliminates the need of an "END" mark applied to the trailing end of the film for detecting the end of the film.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1989Date of Patent: July 18, 1995Assignee: Dai Nippon Insatsu Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Nobuhisa Nishitani
