  • Patent number: 8245962
Abstract: A rotary tumbler metal reclaimer includes an inner cylinder and a concentric outer cylinder that rotate simultaneously. The inner cylinder includes a first compartment that intakes material for breaking by teeth, a second compartment that receives broken material from the first compartment and crushes the material into smaller particles and a third compartment wherein particulate material enters the space between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder by attrition through perforated screens. The second compartment includes a crusher having various features for crushing lump material as it rotates. The third compartment provides further breakage and conveyance of particulate material. Particulate material then returns proximate the intake for screening into fine and coarse sizes and then collecting for reuse. Metallics and metallic oxides exit the tumbler through apertures in the rear of the third compartment for collection. The tumbler reclaims metals, metallic oxides, sands, and other materials for reuse.

  • Patent number: 6595267
Abstract: A tumbling unit such as a casting shake-out unit, rotary media drum, sand reclaimer or the like, is provided. The tumbling unit includes a cylindrical outer shell and a cylindrical inner shell. The inner liner is formed of a series of interfitting segments. The segments each have an inner surface, an outer surface, side edges, a front edge, a back edge, and a vane extending from the outer surface. The side edges of the segments have a groove formed therein which extends the length of said the edges. The grooves of neighboring segments define channel between the segments. A pin or liner lock key is received in the channel to urge the neighboring segments apart to form a tight interfit among the segments in a row of the liner. The retaining pin has a body having side surfaces, a top surface, and a bottom surface. A hole extends through the pin body and receives a dowel, which is sized to extend from opposite sides of said pin body.

  • Patent number: 5794865
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotary lump crusher/reclaiming drum for reclaiming lump materials such as aggregates, chemically-bonded sand lumps, dross, ferrous and non-ferrous scrap and slag. The rotary drum has an outer cylinder concentric with an inner cylinder both of which rotate simultaneously, the latter containing treatment compartments to reduce the lumps to smaller pieces which are in turn reduced to reclassifiable particulate matter in preparation for resuage.

  • Patent number: 5638890
Abstract: A casting shake-out unit has an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder. The inner cylinder is made of a plurality of interfitting segments which interlock and cooperate with each other to prevent a segment from falling out of the completed inner cylinder. Each segment includes tongues extending from opposing edges of the segment's body and pockets formed in the body. The pockets of one segment receive at least a part of the tongue of a neighboring segment.

  • Patent number: 5613902
Abstract: A tumbling mill includes an inlet area, an outlet area, and a tumbling area between the inlet and outlet areas. The mill is formed as a tri-cyclical member having an outer cylinder extending along the tumbling and outlet areas, and an inner cylinder concentric with the outer cylinder and extending through the inlet, outlet and tumbling areas. The inner and outer cylinders define a space therebetween. The inner cylinder is perforated to allow sand to fall into the space between the inner and outer cylinders. The inner cylinder includes an inner helical vane to urge sand, media, and castings toward the outlet area, and an outer helical vane to urge sand and media toward the inlet area. A reclassifying screen is provided in the inlet area to classify sand. Sand particles that are sufficiently small passes through the screen and out a chute. Sand particles that are not small enough are recirculated through the tumbling mill to be further broken down.

  • Patent number: 5581902
Abstract: A rotary drum dryer is provided which will dissipate heat from the drum and which will allow the drum to expand. The rotary drum dryer includes an elongate cylindrical drum which rotates on a base and a tire assembly mounted to the drum. The tire assembly includes a band extending circumferencially around the drum and being radially spaced from the drum and a circumferential tire mounted on the band. A plurality of linkage assemblies are spaced around the drum to physically connect the tire assembly to the drum and a plurality of gussets which maintain a desired spacing between the tire assembly and the drum to allow the drum to move relative to the tire assembly. The gussets each include a gusset body having a top edge and a notch formed in the top edge. The gussets act as vanes to dissipate heat from the drum before the heat reaches the tire assembly.

  • Patent number: 5267603
Abstract: The drum incorporates an inner and outer cylinder, having a helical vane located intermediate thereof, with the media drum being supported upon a base and rotated by a drive motor. The drum contains two parts, an entrance segment and an exit segment. At the exit segment, reclaiming media and sand passes into the space between the inner and outer cylinders and is carried to the entrance segment by the helical vanes. At the entrance segment, the media is picked up by a reclaimer which reintroduces the media into the reclaimer to recycle the media.

  • Patent number: 5016827
Abstract: A sand reclaiming drum incorporating a single cylinder, or structured having a dual cylinder reclaimer. The sand reclaiming drum comprises four sections: an inlet section into which mold castings are introduced, first and second inner sections, and an outlet section. The inlet and first inner sections include helical rifling which urge the castings forward. The first and second inner sections include plates which greatly agitate the castings to loosen embedded sand therefrom. The outlet section includes a plurality of perforations along its length through which the sand may exit the drum and ejection means to urge the sand free castings from the reclaimer.

  • Patent number: 4502808
Abstract: This invention relates to the formation of a resilient retention rod or pin that inserts intermediate a pair of liner segments of a tumbling or casting shake-out unit, and which rod is formed having a series of inherent angular bends provided along its length, and being constructed of resilient material, so that as the rod is forcefully inserted in place for retaining a pair of adjacent liner segments together, the tendency of the resilient rod to achieve its steady state angularly bent condition has a tendency to continuously force a pressure against adjacent segments to assure their tightness in interfitting together for forming the liner or cylinder for a casting shake-out unit or the like.
