Abstract: A golf club such as a putter includes a club head attached to a shaft. The club head includes a ball striking surface or front face. The surface is finish machined to a flatness tolerance of .+-.0.001 inches. The face includes an electrical discharge machined pattern which reduces surface contact area, increases the coefficient of friction of the surface resulting in an improved feel and reduced stroke length to achieve the correct or desired distance.
